With the canal on one side and the Usk on the other this is a beautiful place to cycle for those who are relatively new to cycling. The route is flat (naturally) and there's plenty of benches to stop for a rest and so on. The towpath is shared with pedestrians and dog-walkers and so there's lots of giving way... More

From the campsite to Brecon and back again, then onward the other way to the aqueduct. Spring time a fantastic walk on a quiet backwater that I didn't know existed, yet I've passed it many times. Wonderful bird life and moments of flashing colour, kingfishers darting past, herons majestically waiting for their next meal. We walked for near to 4... More

We parked in a little carpark by the canal nearby the wharf in the peaceful little town Gilwern. Took a stroll along the canal for half an hour then turned back to take some pictures of the narrow boats docked at the wharf. Such a pretty scene. You can actually hire the narrowboats and cruise down the canal while staying... More

Canal-side paths are obviously level so we walked 8 or 10 miles a day with ease. The dog loved it. Canall-side pubs add to the day!

Walked into Brecon via the canal to the basin where a boat trip or boat hire can Bo found. Walking the other direction there is an aquaduct and river views. Easy walking on the level

We walked along the canal from Brecon for about half an hour each way. Lovely and tranquil. Great for dog waking and family walks. Made us want to go back and hire a boat to go on the canal for a day :)

This is the most beautiful stretch of canal, made all the more so because it's land locked and follows the contours of the countryside. It's slower than other canals because it's quite shallow, but travelling slowly means that you can take in the natural beauty. If you've not been on a narrowboat before, then book a short break to get... More

Beautiful part of Wales, have visited the area on numerous occasions during the summer and colder winter months over the years. Love visiting walking around the local villages such as Haye on Wye and hiking up into the beacons themselves. Highly recommend a narrow boat experience, we have twice used Cambrian Cruisers (during summer months), a lovely family run company... More

I booked this as a surprise for my partners 50th and it was great fun. We were complete novices but the owners were really nice and showed us the "ropes". Ashley gave my partner (who wanted to be Captain) a lesson on how to set sail and Robert & Olwen showed me how to work the locks. Dont worry if... More

Spent a week on the canal last Sept. on a Beacon Park boat with another couple. A wonderful experience. The Beacon Park Boats owners, staff and boats were all top notch. Initially, we thought the orientation was a bit brief. But, with experience being the best tutor, we adjusted quickly and settled in for a great week. Our boat, the... More
