An amazing museum a few minutes walk from the centre of Llanberis. Lots of exhibits, both displays and videos help visitors understand the history of slate mining across Wales. We loved the minors cottages, each in a different age and the massive workshops powered by a waterwheel. Free to enter but do donate. Superb!

I visited the place with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Lovely demo of how slates are cut out from the slate stone. You can do some amazing artwork with slate. A real eye opener!

Steeped in history , the setting is authentic & the sequence to follow is mapped out & interesting. The demonstrating of slate cutting is brilliant & not to be missed.

My wife and I visited this museum, not quite sure what to expect. What we found was the amazing history of Victorian slate mining in films, exhibits and demonstrations. Open every day 10-4, and 10-5 Easter to October, this is a great half-day out. Definitely walk the whole site using the free plan from the shop. Watch the film, see... More
