Somewhat Charming
Feb. 2020
We took a stroll down this street on our stay in Windsor and found it sort of charming. We stopped at the famous school and found that sort of charming as well. Not a knock out.

Historic ...

We decided to walk the Thames path on a very hot day. The path is well defined and follows the line of the river closely. There are few crossing points so plan your route carefully. On the way back we got to walk through the grounds of the famous Eton college which was interesting.

Some Handsome Houses
Sep. 2019
A classic English street, a High Street with commercial services. It's pleasant but quite similar to hundreds of other business streets around the island.

Check when the college is open
Jan. 2020
Strongly agree with nickh362. The area around the bridge from Windsor is lovely, and the river offers pleasant views. But the high street is shabby and dull with many shops closed and empty and others shuttered---on a Saturday. It might have been worth the trudge if the college had been open, but an aggressively rude guard told us without any explanation that "the college is closed to you." Presumably, all those classes that meet on Saturdays would be disrupted by visitors. Even access to the chapel was blocked.

Interesting walk around Eton
Jan. 2020
The Eton Walkway is a 2 mile walk starting from Windsor Bridge and takes in lots of interesting sights around the town including Eton College (though you need to book a guided tour well in advance to see inside). The route is identified with bronze markers on the ground but you'll need to pick up a map from the Infornation Centre first to be able to follow it.

Very disappointing
Nov. 2019
Had hoped it would be a pleasant walk however not worth it.
The walk across the bridge and looking along the Thames was very pleasing but not the High street.

A lovely walk around Eton!
Dec. 2019
The walkway takes in the High Street with its interesting mix of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as some areas away from the mainstream. It's ideal for a Sunday afternoon stroll when the Eton College museums are open (with free entry!). Well worth a visit

Good way of seeing the sights of Eton
Nov. 2019 • Solo
I started at the bronze explanatory plaque at the Eton end of Eton Bridge and navigated my way round the route from a photo of the plaque on my phone. The wonders of modern technology. It covers 18 points of interest, ending with the big one: Eton College. Many locals seem to be unaware of the route and it’s not easy to navigate without a map (electronic or otherwise). But well worth persevering.
