Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning!

It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds.

It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

Tropical World, since it's upgrade is amazing, the only thing is when it is very busy you can wait for hours to get in and not be able to see anything due to the volume of people inside. Pairing that with the heat and it can be quite vexing with small children. The meerkats are great though, always make us... More

My partner and I visited today we travelled from Hull as we had been recommended by a friend. It was definitely worth the visit and is only £5 for adults doesn't take long to walk round but I was surprised how many animals and insects there was to see. It does get hot as you can imagine!

I took my nearly 3 year old here today and it's decent. It cost a fiver for me and my son was free as he's under 5. We spent just over an hour in there which is as long as I'd hoped for. The place isn't that big but you see a good array of animals, birds etc. My son... More

Part of a visit to three parts of Roundhay Park, including the canal and show gardens. We, of course, visited on what was the hottest day of the year so far, choosing to go somewhere which of necessity was even hotter, next time we shall visit in the winter. That said we were enthralled by the butterflies, fish, birds and... More

Was expecting much, as I have been to similar places to this in the past (and paid a lot in the process). Firstly the entry prices are exceptionally good, £12.50 for my daughter, wife and myself to enter, my 2yr old went for free. Both the kids loved it! There was plenty for them to see. After visiting the animals,... More
