Step back in time and wander through the enchanting streets, shops and houses and experience life as a Victorian. As a fun, family-friendly and interactive museum, Abbey House Museum is a great day out for all the family. Come to one of our many family sessions as advertised on our website or pop in with friends for a trip down memory lane.On the ground floor visit Stephen Harding Gate, the 19th century equivalent of a modern high street, for some old fashioned retail therapy. In the back streets, see the home of the window washer woman or pop into the Sunday-School. On the first floor, see our Childhood and Community Galleries along with the changing programme of exhibitions. Abbey House Museum is situated directly across the road from the historical site of Kirkstall Abbey, set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire.

Wonderful place to visit which is opposite the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey. Step back in time with your children and let them play the same games that your grandmothers/fathers played when they were children. Great place to visit and suitable for all rainy days!

Children loved walking round seeing the old toys and walking down the old streets. A great day out we all enjoyed.

This was always a great visit, and its got better. You can literally walk down a Victorian street, in and out of various shops and residences. Upstairs you can play with the toy and Victorian arcade machines. Amazing collections on display.

Our family toured the museum on the last day of our stay in the UK. It was quite reasonable in price, included free parking and the abbey across the road had no admission fee. While our twins are 14 years old, they really enjoyed the...More

Educational, fascinating and experiential. Not bad for what looks like such a tiny place from the outside. Situated opposite Kirkstall Abbey, both are worth taking in in a single trip and are worthwhile destinations in Leeds in their own right. The museum is beautiful: downstairs...More

The Victorian street is a little gem . Upstairs there is an exhibition based on fairy tales and there are Penny slot machines which include a murder mystery and a haunted room, there is also a very macabre execution by guillotine.
