The world's oldest continuously working commercially successful railway isn't as glamorous as the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway, but it very modestly preserves a vitally important part of Britain's industrial and steam heritage - this is hardcore industrial railway history! Not far from the site of the old Hunslet Engine Works, which exported industrial locomotives to more than thirty countries,... More

This is a great attraction even if you are not a railway enthusiast, it is for old and young alike with food, they have a little cafe where you can get food and drink, you can ride on the old train wich I thourally enjoyed, theres plenty of engines to look at and the people who I think are volunteers... For just £5 return (Adults) you can take in the majestic splendor of the M621 motorway, and the rear of several modern industrial units. You disembark in Middleton Park and after a brief pause to dry your tears of disappointment, re-embark for the short shunt back into the industrial wilderness of South Leeds.

We celebrated our sons's 1st birthday. It was fantastic, the staff were so lovely and so welcoming. They decorated the coach so nicely. Will definitely book again.

Went along during the special event weekend of the 28/29 Sept. We got there a bit later than planned on the Saturday and missed the last Steam trip (there was another diesel to come) so went back on Sunday - we only live 10mins down the road. The gentleman at the ticket office was great, even offered us tickets for... More

The oldest railway in the world is so sweet. Lovely little museum about it's history and then you can take the steam train up to Middleton Park

Entrance is now through a modern building which leads to an excellent museum with well labelled exhibits. Ride not the most scenic but an ex colliery line isn’t going to be, but the history makes up for it. The coaches pleasantly different to the average preserved line. Staff all very friendly. Line isn’t a collection of rusting relics like many... More

On a short break taking in a number of preserved railways, we chose to travel to the railway by bus from Leeds Centre to Dewsbury Rd. We walked towards the railway using brown traffic signs, unfortunately no pedestrian route was indicated for the final part of the journey. A sign attached to the perimeter fence would have made our visit... More
