Running through the heart of Yorkshire and Lancashire - I love the canal as a way to get away from the traffic and just amble along. Particularly improved since the extra trainstations have been added between Leeds and Shipley.

Great route for running in/out of the city on the canal towpath. Lots of cyclists but all friendly. Great views for a local running route.

We walked for about two hours beside and around the canal recently, and thoroughly enjoyed a quick break from the city. Although, like any canal, it seems that the path is awkwardly close to the water, it was peaceful and pleasant.

I have walked from Armley Industrial museum down to Rodley on many occasions, it is wonderful and peaceful. There are people riding bikes, people walking dogs, people just walking. No better way to spend an afternoon.

I have had two holidays on this canal and want to do the whole length. It is one of the most scenic in the country and fantastic for those interested in industrial history.

The first 10 miles from Leeds is well maintained and fine to do on road bikes. The surface then becomes uneven and pot holed so we turned round. Pleasant tea shop on the towpath, about 7 miles from Leeds called the little red café.

I walked along the well-made towpath from Gargrave past several locks and the Priest Holme aqueduct over the River Aire. Unfortunately there was no traffic on the canal and the locks were, well, locked out of use because of the water shortage in summer 2018.

A lovely walk, which with the exception of a few short up hill spouts in flat throughout. Its a tranquil walk along the waterside, looking at nature and passing the small communities of people that holiday or live on the canal. My favourite walk is...More
