This one is for the walkers, not for us when Yorkshire gives us all the wind and rain it can sum up!

We had a great day, weather wise for this walk. We chose to have a guide Johnny Briggs who made it all worth while, Brought the place and the story of the Bronte's life alive. The views, the clouds, breathtaking. Words are not enough to...More

Although the building itself is fast becoming a ruin, the countryside is beautiful and the walk was pleasant. A worthwhile journey.

A picturesque and enjoyable walk from Haworth or Stanbury on a clear day. Not so good when it is wet or misty. The old ruin is reputedly the site of "Wuthering Heights"

Fabulous walk from Haworth up to the Bronte Bridge and beyond to Top Withens. Just to stand there an imagine the inspiration behind the stunning location was amazing.

As would be expected, this is an uphill walk! Once you get there though, it's such an atmospheric place and you soon forget the effort it took on the way. There are many other Bronte sites to visit withing the immediately surrounding countryside too.

I came to Yorkshire just to visit Haworth and the Bronte Parsonage, and to make the 'pilgrimage' to the moors and Top Withens. It more than exceeded my expectations. Breathtaking countryside, peace and quiet, just the bleating of sheep and occasional lowing of cows. I...More

Very remote and bleak. Exactly right. Standing her I could feel the spirit of brontés. I will be returning over and over for the beautiful views.

I made my second hike to Top Withins (the first was in 2016) and it was just as exhilarating as the first time. The walk up is somewhat strenuous in places but anyone reasonably fit should be able to attain it. If you are a...More

Yes dogs are not a problem on the walk to Top Withens, you can even have them of the lead but there are sheep around so unless sheep tested keep it on a lead and keep it safe. Hope this helps. By the way it’s amazing... More

I would say about 2hrs maximum, it was quite windy on the day we were out and there was a local race on traveling in the same direction we were walking so we probably could have walked it quicker if there had been less foot... More
I am trying to find a place I visited outside of Haworth in 2001. It was NOT in town. It was by an old building that was part of the Bronte history, NOT Top's Within. It was close to where the bus dropped me off out in the country. It was a house at the bottom of the hill. They took in guests, but I don't know if it was a real B & B. It was at the bottom of the hill that lead to Peniston Crag. I talked to the woman in this house on my way up and she asked me to CHECK IN with her on my way down, because I was traveling alone and it was a dreary day. Sure enough I fell (on totally flat land), so I spoke with her on my way home. When she found out I had fallen she took me into her kitchen and it had a HUGE stone fireplace and gave me tea. She eventually got a call and said a guest was coming to stay, so she took be back into town to get the guest, so I did not have to wait for a bus. I always wondered who she was and I didn't think to ask fro her address. Does this sound familiar to someone who has lived there a while?

Hello, It could have been Ponden Guest House or Ponden Mill. Both are just outside Stanbury, which is north of Top Withens. I don't think that the people who now run Ponden Mill were there in 2001 but it is close to where... More
