We had a fantastic experience at Birmingham Wine School's cheese and wine matching event at The Wellington. My girlfriend and I love both, and it was informative and tasty finding out what works together - we will be carefully consulting the 'cheese wheel' handout we were given in future! Heidi Leung, our host, was very knowledgable and entertaining, and held... More

Hi Daniel, thank you for your review, very happy you enjoyed. I think it must have been the cheese, (rather than the wine) for the cause of the raucous behaviour!! Good point on the cheese so in future it will be a different cheese for every wine. Many thanks Rob More

trying new wines in comfortable surroundings with like minded people, learning about the types of grapes, the countries where they are grown and how. trying different foods to go with the wines and in some cases able to purchase some wine, althiugh this is not the reason for the wine school.

Great hosts . Really informative without being "lectured". Came away having tasted some really great wines but also looking forward to practising the tips from the evening.

We attended the Sunday wine tasting at Hotel Du Vin where we tried 15 wines with a 3 course lunch. Despite having little knowledge of wine we thoroughly enjoyed our day and learned a great deal. Both of us have now chosen 3 favourite wines! Rob kept us entertained all day, he was informative and friendly. The day was very... More

We tasted 12 wines and a champagne at the Hotel Du Vin on Saturday. This was the second time we have been to this event and we hope to return again in the future. Rob presented in a very relaxed and knowledgable way, the wines were diverse and the food was lovely. The Hotel Du Vin is a great venue... More

Hi Julie, Thank you for your review. And very happy you still enjoyed it on your second visit. I did forget to tell my wine joke this time though, so that would have helped! Yes Hotel du Vin is a great venue, easily accessible from both Snow Hill and New Street railway stations. Thanks again, Rob More

I've attended a few wine tastings in Birmingham and Rob's is one of the best. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a very personable style which puts you at ease. He tells you about the wines and doesn't talk at you which I found very engaging. We tasted 18 wines throughout the day with a good range and selection which... More

The Pairing Wine and Food evening that Wendy led was a very pleasant experience. Informal, informative and fun in equal measure. Would recommend it strongly as an enjoyable evening out. Full marks

I bought this as pressie for my other half for Christmas, thankfully it went down very well! We did a red wine tasting evening. Geoff was brilliant and explained lots about red wines, showed us things to look for and explained lots about grapes. Really informative and great fun at the same time. Would certainly be looking to do another... More
