A great day out! The beautiful house is set in impressive Capability Brown landscape. A sensational permanent exhibition sits alongside a modern extension which houses temporary exhibits, a restaurant and shop. My 9 year old daughter enjoyed taking a complementary backpack of goodies which included nature trail cards, bug box, compass maps and drawing pads etc. She enjoyed seeing the... More

Visited with 3 generations of family and found something for everyone. The children loved the adventure playground and woodland area. The bags for the children in the art gallery were fabulous, the best I've seen and kept a lively preschooler very focused searching for the dogs on the paintings

We bought an annual ticket for £9 each (Senior 2017 prices) for unlimited return visits to the galleries and the park. You have to pay more for the exhibitions. The galleries were interesting enough with plenty of info in each room for the paintings/exhibits.There were some wonderful paintings in such a small art gallery including Cranach and Holbein. Lots of... More

This much-looked-forward-to occasion was not disappointing. We have met up in Compton Vernay once, sometimes twice, a year for the past six years. Our meet-up was over a cup of coffee in the new cafe. Lovely coffee served in stunning cups and saucers (was a bit nervous you might still have those little white mugs and insipid coffee I'd experienced... More

A lovely day out. The house is Georgian and contains a museum and art gallery - nice to potter about in. Good selection of folk art and Chinese artefacts. Usually has a temporary exhibition upstairs for a few months - this time it was 'Creating the Countryside' - some nice art by Constable and others but some of the more... More

We enjoyed another lovely visit to Compton Verney yesterday. It is a beautiful place and the staff are always polite, friendly and well informed. The restaurant and refreshments area has been refurbished and whilst it looks more 'commerical' it works much better than the previous arrangement. And new caterers too, I think, as the cake, sandwiches and coffee were excellent!

We have been to the exhibitions and guided tours at Compton Verney many times and have been massively impressed with the level of expertise of the staff there and the quality of the exhibitions. Yesterday we took our four grandchildren, aged 11, 10, 8 and 5, to spend the day there. They were fascinated with the 'Clearing' and wanted to... More

We love this place with its extensive grounds and the current exhibition, Countryside, is excellent as are the permanent exhibitions. It is well worth going on the guided tour as the guides are so informative. Wonderful to see lots of families enjoying the space The new restaurant hasn't got it quite right. It is not of the standard of before,... More

The house and art collection is fantastic as always and loved the new look to the restaurent BUT what a mess /muddle in ordering and knowing what is available and the prices extortionate especially on a small salad £8.95 for a small piece of salmon or 3 slices of chicken some mixed lettuce and a spoonful of bought in coleslaw!,... A lovely day out! Extensive and attractive grounds around a lake that includes an interesting art installation called The Clearing which is dome made of recycled materials that is also lived in by various people who applied to live there!. Looks amazing in this Capability Brown landscape. Then the main gallery building is a fab blend of old and new... More
