The Swan Theatre is an amazing experience

We saw 'The Hypocrite'. It was our first experience. It was out of this world! Amazing- we loved it. Everyone needs humour. Wendy and Derek

We had looked forward to visiting the revamped exhibition at the Swan Theatre, The Play's the Thing, as we knew the old version well. There are some very impressive interactive exhibits now. Highlights for our two girls (ages 9 and 11), were being able to see yourself in a variety of costumes electronically and email the finished shot to yourself,... More

The Swan Theatre is just fantastic and an excellent production of The Hypocrite from Hull truck including a free post-performance talk with the actors. The cost of seats is great value compared with London and a much pleasanter venue. Very helpful staff, just don't understand why they have changed the shop round as it impedes the flow of people walking... More

Just seen The Hypocrite following it's transfer from Hull and thought it was a first-class entertaining production with many laugh out loud moments. However,we would not go to the Swan again unless we could obtain better seats-we were in Gallery 2.The two wooden "safety" beams in front of the seats completely block one's view of the stage and as a result... We are regulars at this theatre which is smaller and more intimate than the main RSC stage and often stages the more interesting season of plays out of the two. We have just seem to see The Hypocrite which was no exception. Well acted and highly engaging. However, the theatre is definitely let down by the seating which needs very... More

Came to the Swan Theatre to see The Hypocrite. This was our first visit and it certainly made an impression & appeared like a modern incarnation of a Shakespearian theatre with tiered galleries and a projecting stage surrounded by seats on 3 sides. We were in side seats on Gallery 1 but certainly did not feel we had a restricted... More

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing a play in this lovely theatre. The interior is great, creating the idea of theatre in the round. The seating surrounds the stage on three sides and you really feel a part of the drama.

The production of The Hypocrite is a joy. Mesmerising acting by each member of the cast, a rip-roaring, clever production. I sat at the side of the stage which is somewhat more comfortable than the seating on upper levels! Although, very draughty, so wrap up your legs. The Swan Theatre bar is an intimate, comfortable room serving good coffee and... More

The Swan is the RSC's second theater. Smaller and more intimate than the main theatre, with about 460 seats (compared to just over 1,000), it presents works by Shakespeare's contemporaries, and new works. From Wolf Hall to Snow in Midsummer, the new productions are often interesting. The older works - by Jonson, Marlowe, etc. - can be good or can... More
