Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This medieval bridge replaced an earlier wooden one which stood on the site of the original ford from which the town takes its name.
It was built in 1480 and has 14 arches. Part of it was destroyed during the Civil War in 1642 in an attempt to hinder the progress of the Parliamentary army and it has been subject to a few other repairs and alterations over its long life. The old toll house, built in 1814 still stands on the north west side. The levying of tolls was not profitable enough and was discontinued in 1839.
The bridge is beautiful and you can get a very good aerial view of it from The Tower beside the RSC Theatre (reviewed separately). It carries quite heavy road traffic and although a perfectly safe dedicated footbridge part was added (in 1827) you are still close to the traffic; I found this a little uncomfortable. Tramway Bridge nearby (reviewed separately) is pedestrian-only and a more pleasant way to cross the river on foot.

Although the walkway is on the narrow side (if you stop you will need to stand tight in and it can be noisy as roadway is close by) a stroll over this historic bridge (or the nearby Tramway?) will reward you. Besides views up and down river you will see a multitude of swans, wildfowl and probably the (resident?) heron! If you have the time and the inclination then take a cruise on the river to see the marvellous 14 archs head on. We did (with Bancroft Cruisers). Lovely time had doing both of these.

A 15th century bridge, paid for by Sir Hugh Clopton who was later to become a Lord Mayor of London for the then Monarch King Henry VII
A beautiful 14 arched bridge that carries the now A3400 road over the River Avon, replacing the original wooden one.

Other then it being a short bridge with a pavement on the one side, there really wasn't much about this bridge except walking across it and having a view of the river.

However, the pavement isn't on the side that would give you a better view of the river.

The bridge actually looks nice when you're not on it so you can see the arches.

A very picturesque bridge that crosses the river. I think best viewed from either a boat trip or from the riverfront. I saw it from Coxs yard.

Worth a walk across the old bridge to see a toll house - the bridge takes you across to car parking, grass areas, crazy golf and other bridges brings you back into town. All minutes away from town centre
