If you like your history and Science, look no further, I visit here often with the kids, great family day out but also good for those looking to know about the local history, or history in general, can pick up a lot of information, and learn new things. Best of all its free!

Unfortunately this museum does not open until 11am, so we headed elsewhere and did not have time to come back. We were not the only surprised and disappointed visitors that day.

We took the kids here during half term break, but it wasn't half term in Newcastle, which was great for us as it meant the museum wasn't too busy and we got to look around at our own pace. This is a free entry venue (with donations welcome) which illustrates the development of Newcastle through tne ages, and which holds the county archives, which I have used to research the history of the nearby Souter Lighthouse. Turbinia is on display, the first steam turbine launch

The Discover offers everyone, regardless of age or gender a vast array of exciting learning opportunities, history, machinery, a steamboat, military exhibitions and interactive activities to name just very few of the experiences of Discovery. Staff are knowledgeable and approachable. Everything is well signposted. Situated in the heart of Newcastle with ease of parking. A must see.

Loads of interesting historic things too see for all ages. Children loved the 'hands on' practical side of the museum. Definitely worth a visit.

An interesting concept with a number of features that should engage adults and children.
