Good central complex

A place to visit for various types of eating establishments and variety of shops. A picture house is within the Gate as well as a Weatherspoons. Worth a look

Hideous modern development on prime site in the middle of Newcastle. Poor design and zero atmosphere. The cinema is the only reason we go back.

Loads of places to have a meal or a drink. It also has a Cinema if you want to see the latest blockbusters and a casino if you fancy a flutter.

What we enjoyed about The Gate was its Za Za Bazaar. For a reasonable 9 pounds or so, you can get an all-you-can eat lunch up until 5 pm (when they kick you out) It has all kinds of international foods as well as British food. The Indian food section was one of the best.

An enclave of primarily well-known chain eateries and drinkeries. Ideal for visitors looking for something familiar, but nothing to excite the palate or broaden the discerning consumer's culinary horizons. You're always guaranteed at least one surprise though - which site will have changed hands/be mid-re-furb on your next visit? If you aren't too fussy, know what you like and like... More

Cinema on the top floor. Good variety of eating places but . selection of bars and clubs under one roof. Sadly appears to be the "new Bigg Market ... a wide variety of idiots too, keep your hand on your wallet! aws.

This used to be a hive of activity, with several good independent bars and clubs, but gradually they have been squeezed out by corporate offerings that all look slightly frayed at the edges. A couple of the bars have now closed down and the place is looking a bit tired.

Modern location full of chain restaurants. Good if you're looking for familiar eats and fancy a visit to a very average cinema too. Seems to be constantly be having some sort of construction work done and a least two locations closed for refurb or to change hands.
