The tide mill is a fascinating place. Slightly different to most mills as uses the tide, not when the tides coming in but when it goes out! There is an informative guide who can answer you questions. Also information boards on the three levels. Not a place to visit if you can't do steep stairs. Point to note, there is... More

Situated in the picturesque part of Woodbridge is a rare example of a tide mill whose water wheel still turns and is capable of grinding whole meal flour. The mill itself is a Grade I listed three storey building constructed from wood; externally it is clad in white Suffolk boarding and has a Gambrel (two slopes on each side) roof.... More

Ultimately this is a very small museum. The story is great and the regeneration is first rate. But, this was quite expensive for what was only a 25minute excursion. Look online and read the history. Then save yourself a fiver and look at the pictures online.

This is a must for anyone interest in the working of our mills. The Augustan Priors in 1170 using the tides to drive the water wheel. The mill fell into decline and ruin but an enterprising lady purchased this at an Auction in 1968 and restored it to its former glory as a working mill producing flour

This rejuvenated flour mill is the only tidal mill now in working order in England. It has been well restored as a museum. Wheelchair users and those with mobility issues can enjoy the ground floor with pleasant water views inside and out, and there is a superior, clean disabled toilet. There are two flights of wooden stairs to the upper... More

A really interesting place to visit with an amazing history which is explained over the three floors in photos and a working model. You can also try your skill at fitting a variety of cogs together so that they all turn together. Easier said than done!! But you can cheat by looking in the box which gives you the answer.... More

This is the number one attraction in Woodbridge and it is well worth the trip along the Deben quayside to get to it. It is something of an iconic structure and very visible/photogenic. There is also a very nice walk past it to condsider along the western Deben or in the opposite direction out to the eastern side and the... More
