lovely afternoon on a cold winters day!

I was looking for somewhere to visit between Christmas and New Year. It had to meet 4 criteria. 1, be open. 2, be of historic interest. 3, not too far away. And 4, be a good place to walk the dog whilst we where there! A big ask I know, but Boscobel House came up trumps. The house made a... More

Trying to find activities of interest with a monosyllabic 11 year old which do not involve an I-pad is a difficult one! So we came to Boscobel house, bought a guide book (which he didn't want!) & booked the guided tour of the house (which surprisingly he didn't want to do either!) The young man who showed us round the... More

Expensive if you pay full pay for what you get to see. We had a two for one ticket on this occasion. The house and the oak were a bit of a disappointment. The house didn't really engage me, I usually take loads of photos on days out but on this occasion took only 4. Dark and small, we looked... More

To think, it was here that Charles II famously evaded Oliver Cromwell's troops after the Battle of Worcester. This house is full of surprises, and Priest Holes. Magnificently set in Shropshire countryside, Boscobel is certainly worth a visit. And make sure you walk to the Royal Oak.

A pleasant hour in autumn sunshine spent here. We are members of English Heritage & would urge others to join & discover these wonderful sites. The house was complete with an interesting history well documented in the various rooms, from the days of Charles II through the reign of Victoria all have an interesting past. We found the staff very... More

Discovered this place having a random drive around and popped in to see the tea room. Entrance to the House is around £12! Far too much in any case, so we didn't bother, and just stuck to the tea room plan. (Even though there is some documented history about a future king climbing into a tree here! I imagine it... More

Although maybe a little biased being Shropshire residents and lovers of Civil War History, we have to say that our visit to Boscobel during August was really enjoyable. It is interesting historically and retains such a feel of what had happened there in the past. The young staff were really friendly, helpful and enthusiastic and made such a difference to... More

This was our second visit to the house the gardens and house are a beautiful place to see in the summer. The walk across the field to the royal tree is across the sheep's paddock but pleasant with the sound of the grasshoppers which you can see if you look carefully. The tour of the house is interesting and we'll... More

Visited tea room at Boscobel House for the first time yesterday but it defiantly won't be the last. Coffee & cakes excellent and staff really friendly.
