Old peat cuttings now planted and managed by the RSPB; access is easy but the feel of the place is remote and wild. The deep reedbeds are full of life, the landscape huge and the Tor hangs on the horizon. Pretty close to Heaven!

The best place to see and hear the starling murmuration. Let's hope that the starlings continue visiting this magnificent place.

Lovely reserve run by helpful staff. Facilities basic but you can even get a nice coffee in a compostable cup.

I have never seen such numbers of Red Admirals and other butterflies. Great views of Great and Little Egrets and Grey Herons. Marsh Harrier gliding over the marsh was also a wonderful site. We hope to visit again.

My wife and I visited here with our pet dogs - it’s a beautiful nature walk with a stream running along the pathway- the only negative part was that the dogs had to be kept on their leads

After having had a meal in nearby Glastonbury, my wife and I decided to visit Ham Wall. Slightly disappointed with the lack of wildlife there - perhaps we chose the wrong time of day to go. Saw a little egret + the usual array of...More

Ham wall is a regular haunt of ours; the tranquil Somerset levels are a great place to watch wildlife and it is renowned for its Starling murmurations. Anyway we went for a walk around on Sunday and picked blackberries for crumbles and blackberry port, and...More
