Unique

So easily missed although close to the Abbey ruins. There was a sense of tranquility within the tenderly cared garden, while the open alms house was an education in history. But it was the chapel which was noteworthy as a place of deep spiritual peace and quite beautiful in it's simplicity, the centuries of pilgrims and others' devotions have left their presence.

Peaceful comtemplation
Sep. 2020
Visiting St Margaret's Chapel was on our adgenda for our meditation retreat. We enjoyed lighting a candle for our loved ones and sitting in prayer in the intimate chapel. We were amazed at the beautifully kept garden and enjoyed peeking into the small houses that once were all those years ago

A hidden gem
Sep. 2020 • Couples
We searched for a while to find the chapel and almshouses, it is quite tucked away. It was worth the search! The almshouses were really interesting. The garden was beautiful and peaceful, as was the chapel. A hidden gem in the town centre

Beautiful Sanctuary
Nov. 2019 • Friends
This tiny little church is tucked away and yet it is so welcoming. Beautiful gardens and the ambience of the place is so calm and peaceful. The little cottages were interesting to see to. A beautiful sanctuary well worth a visit.

This is THE island of peace, I love sitting in this tiny garden, which is perfect: the plants, the atmosphere, everything. At the entrance there's a finger labyrinth which helps focusing on a question. The chapel inside is quite simple. Unfortunately, the opening now is not really tourist friendly, it's open 11am-3pm on Friday, Sat and Sunday.

Gorgeous and historical little find - very worth a visit. Poke around the alms house cotts, and take in a real window into medieval life.
