Decent centre

Worth buying a map of the city centre and lots of helpful advice at the desk. There is lots to pick up on local attractions all over Somerset.

I wish this tourist information centre had more leaflets about the area within 50 miles of Bath. The leaflets that they do have are in an alcove which can get very crowded. There are staff behind a desk and I believe you can book tickets for tours there.

Conveniently located in the middle of historical Bath, the people here are knowledgeable and helpful in getting oriented to the town of Bath. They were able to point out to me where the free walking tour of Bath meets. It's just a few steps from the Abbey and is easy to find.

We were advised on choosing the best things to fit into one day without too much walking. Staff were patient, and found us leaflets to read about the choices.

We used the advice to plan what we might fit into 2 days, and also where to eat and to check if any other specific places had exhibitions on, Some combination of tickets can give a reduction on venue tickets eg the bus tour has a reduction into Roman Baths, There are some distances between sites so bus gives an... Having tried to obtain information at the railway station (very unhelpful) "information" office we were more than pleased with what we found in the city centre. Having already thought of going to Bradford -on-Avon for walks and Wells for the market, we had very detailed information here. Walk guides, bus times, yes, use this - not the train station -... I only went in to find the nearest public toilet, but came out with lots of info about Bath and the surrounding area.

By visiting the tourist information center on our first day we learnt about the free guided walking tour of the city which was brilliant. Lots more information about the attractions were in the office so well worth popping in.

The folks here were very helpful and the Bath Tourist Information Office is totally loaded with souvenirs. Here is where they sell tickets to some of the other visits in town.

Thank Jim B
