- Val LCannock, United Kingdom301 contributionsGreat place to visitWent on a Sunday morning after booking tickets on line - were there by 10am and were able to get round and see everything easily. Audio guides were easy to use - enjoyed listening to Bill Bryson’s comments on the baths . Lots to see - enjoyed opportunity to taste the water !!! Great place to visitVisited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 January 2024
- barefootboaterLondon, United Kingdom13 contributionsInteresting and fully accessibleWe had a fabulous afternoon here, loads of displays and information - and some excellent sound bites from Bryson. But best of all was the accessibility - I have limited walking, so I walk with two crutches, and every single part of the experience was easy to access via lifts and slightly amended routes. The staff near the lifts, doors and passageways were helpful and knowledgeable. An excellent day out, thank you.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 January 2024
- WillJames893Westgate-on-Sea, United Kingdom8 contributionsThe best in Bath, and an all-time favourite attraction in the UKAbsolutely superb. The free audio tour was outstanding and extremely insightful, and the Baths themselves were fascinating and unexpectedly huge. Will remain one of my all-time favourite attractions, and will be visiting again on my next trip to Bath.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 January 2024
- James BLondon, United Kingdom348 contributionsMust seeFantastic experience. The free audio guide gives a great amount of detail about the Baths, it was truly exciting to see how the Romans would have built and used these baths nearly 2000 years ago. The tour takes around 1hr but could stretch it out much longer if you wanted.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 February 2024
- 469tracyg47Haverhill, United Kingdom43 contributionsAmazing place and first class customer serviceI cannot express how friendly, helpful and amazing the staff were . The Baths were so can’t but the staff also make it. My Auntie was in a wheelchair and each and every member helped us in any way they could, such an incredible place and even more so incredible experienceVisited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 February 2024
- Jenny TRusper, United Kingdom188 contributionsA valuable historic insightSuch an interesting history and well Explained in the audio guide which you can dip in and out of this to select what really interests you. The extent of the baths is huge and really surprised us. A must see when visiting Bath as totally unique.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2024
- Sightsee15143016320Durban, South Africa2 contributionsRoman BathsThis is a good visit.. History and the atmopshere. Its pricey.. So look for any specials. If I had to see only one thing in Bath it would be that. Go early.. Like as soon as it opens.. Else its hard to see things ans you all crowded in breathing in each others germs ina closed environment.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 15 February 2024
- Melanie WilbournePlymouth, United Kingdom49 contributionsA Must seeI’ve probably visited about 8 times in my life. Could Never get bored with the place. I think the temple complex is becoming even more fascinating to me than the baths. An absolute must see. Love the Bill Bryson tour too. Staff lovely. If I could give it 10 stars, I would .Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 February 2024
- Jason FairMerida, Mexico1,068 contributionsA Must Visit Historic Site! One of the most amazing historical sites we've ever seen. The museum is extensive and well designed. The audio guide is informative and the archeological finds in display are remarkable. This site has been important to people since before the Roman's, as indicated by thousands of years of coins tossed into the hot waters. The mineral water is invigorating to drink as well. This is a must visit location in Bath.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 February 2024
- Wander6612512519710 contributionsFascinating glimpse of Roman BritainBrilliant exhibition, really well laid out and with a superb audio guide system. The audio guides have lots of information, but also impressions by Bill Bryson, special audio for kids, and even technical information on the techniques used by the masons to build the Baths. There were also lifts so that wheelchair users could get around, and touch exhibits with brail for blind visitors. And as a bonus, it's almost all under cover - great on a really wet day!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 February 2024

Well worth a visit with lots to see will take you about 2 hours to go around. There are lots of interactive displays and I would recommend you take an audio guide as they do add to the experience. When we went in September it wasn't too jam packed but I can only imagine it at the height of summer. At the end of the tour there is a substantial gift shop which you can also access from the main street if you don't want to take the tour. Remember you can save 10% by booking tickets online--admission prices vary depending on the time of year.

We were in bath for the day and booked a visit to the Roman Baths in advance online so when we arrived got straight into the prepaid queue and were served straight away without have to wait which was marvellous.
We were visiting on a Tuesday morning in January and it was very busy with lots of different people and groups so I would recommend booking in advance especially in the busy months.
All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.
We really enjoyed looking round the museum at all the history and the lots of informative information and taking lots of photos.
The added excitement at the end is you get to try the water from the bath spa.
If you are in bath I would say the Roman Baths is a must.

Visited the Roman Baths on a Tuesday before 11am, staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding people in and ensure face masks were worn at all times indoors. Inside the building there were amazing sights to see. They have preserved the main structure extremely well and was suprised to have a hand-held audio guide throughout my trip. This audio guide provided information on many different parts that were shown throughout the roman baths. As a one way system was impletemented it allowed a flow to occur to avoid too many people in once place. Price for admission was £25 each, I would recommend history lovers to visit as it provided an insight to how romans lives so long ago. I loved the variety of gifts displayed in the shop at the end of the tour.

We paid £25 each for pre-booked ticked which I would say is £15 too much for this type of attraction. In these strange covid times they state they are limiting numbers and only so many in 15 minute time period are allowed in. There were so many let in that when our time slot appeared we joined what appeared to be the worlds longest and slowest moving queue.
It was painfully slow. From the top balcony we could see a dribble of one person allowed out at a time to the main pool below. By the time we got to the main pool they were letting far more out as they must have realised that the queue was just getting longer and longer.
On the indoor bits of the queue we obviously had to wear masks but there was no social distancing. People had been told to leave 2 metre but this did not happen. Absolutely crammed in like a busy tube train. Horrendous and terrible in these covid times. When there were stairs in the queue there was an attendant telling people to keep a distance but no one at all in the main corridor queue. On our mini tour of England we went to many attractions, bars and restaurants who all took covid far more seriously in actions as well as words.
The baths themselves are fine but there’s only so long you want to see them for - not for hours like the slow shuffle made us.
The staff were probably the least friendly we’ve encountered. From the outside queue asking grumpily if we were absolutely sure we were in the right queue to the attendents around the queue inside. One exception was the lady who scanned our tickets who gave us a warm and friendly reception.
I’m sure many people will say they ‘have’ to visit the baths but...go prepared for a long wait.

Nowadays Roman Bath structure raised on a place of roman hot baths of Aqua Sulis. This sightseeing is a must when in Bath, both Temple of Minerva Sulis including hot pool feeding from Kings Springs and accompanying museum exhibition are very interesting indeed.
Note that there is no actual bath or spa on the site, this site is just an exposition. Actual operating spa is situated nearby and has a separate entarnce, with pool placed on the top floors of a new higher building. There is also a smaller spa across the street - Cross Baths, a separate structure standing at a ground level and feeding from the Cross Spring.
Tickets to the both can be bought in advance or bought on spot in the ticket office of the bigger spa.

Really enjoyed visiting the Roman Baths. It was much bigger than I expected and really interesting to see all the different aspects which are very similar to modern day spas!
We pre-booked online which meant that the entrance fee was slightly cheaper and we were able to by-pass the queue. We visited on a Saturday during half-term but booked for 09:30 and it didn’t feel too busy or crowded.
Would recommend.

We pre booked tickets for the Roman baths as you cannot be granted access without doing so. Social distancing was brilliantly executed by staff members and it didn’t bare any negative connotations on our experience whatsoever. The audio guide was engaging and simple to use, but we were most impressed with the value for money. Our initial expectations were blown out of the water by how immersive the museum was. It’s such a beautiful and historic location. An absolute must when visiting Bath.

Not much to look at from the outside having done no research we went into the baths because we were in Bath. Probably one of the most impressive Roman sites I have ever been to. A combination of the scale, complexity and the engineering makes the place very impressive. We did not use the audio guide. There are plenty of signs explaining what everything is and several very informative architectural models. In many of the large spaces they have projections onto gauze of how the baths might have been used. All very clever. We spent about 45 minutes there but could easily have spent longer. The Roman Baths are part of a series of museums including the Fashion Museum and Victoria Gallery for which you can buy a group ticket which proved to be much cheaper in the long run.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. We are pleased you decided to visit and that you enjoyed your time with us. It is amazing that when you are standing outside our entrance, you are standing 20 ft above Roman street level and the ancient Roman remains below.

Visted on a Saturday afternoon.
Whilst it was intestering and informative to visit, we felt that the experience was let down by COVID measures.
Each 15 minute ticket sime slot allows 40-50 people per time, which results in lots of queueing throughout the exhibit. We were there for just over an hour, and probably spent 15-20 minutes of that queueing, so it didn't feel like good value for money.

Very interesting and a must do in when visiting Bath!
Tickets must be pre-booked due to COVID and these can be purchased at the price of £21 per adult via their own web site. Initially pricey but in fairness, well worth the price when we were there!
You get a free audio which will help you and guide you through. Also some actors throughout the tour will give you a visual educational lesson too.

Do you have to purchase a ticket ahead of time, or can you buy it there?

We went into ticket office previous day. We chose entry time as early as possible to avoid queues but soon gets busy. As a treat we recommend visiting the pump room for afternoon tea.

Do they allow re-entry? We have a reservation for tea that will cut our visit short so we would love to be able to go back in after tea.

I agree that you should call the museum but I recommend that you go when you have a few hours to check it out. Also, it may be hard to quit halfway through if it is crowded as it is a one-way tour through the museum.

Non ho capito una cosa: la visita delle antiche terme, fanno parte della visita al museo, oppure il museo è una cosa, e le terme un'altra?

Why don't they treat the water in the original bath area? Or minimally reconstruct some the house so that it can be useable? Why let the bad water just sit there? So people can jump in it?
Written 12 September 2022
It is meant to be a natural spring, it is for originality not for ‘tourists’ to use as a play area. Enjoy what you see, learn what is on offer, don’t try to make it another ‘theme park’ for those not bright enough to see it fit the historic marvel that it is.

Hi.
Trying to plan our day and are booked in for the 10am slot… how long should be expect the visit to take? Thanks 😊

Hello,
We would recommend somewhere between 1.5-2 hours to make the most of your visit. However, the visit is self guided so you may spend as long as you like.
