- Travel_addict13_10652 contributionsWorth the ticket priceWe were not sure we wanted to pay the money (£17.50/ £20 weekends) but eventually we did and we were so pleased we did. This is a fascinating site. Some has been reconstructed to show Roman life and bathing in the first, second and third century. But you can see much of the site as it has been excavated, without reconstruction, which is also most interesting. The commentary is good. The whole site has been put together most effectively. It is much more than just the one bath that is often in photos, even though that in itself is worth seeing. We left the pram at the reception area and opted for the free back pack for our one year old. From this height he seemed I thoroughly enjoy the whole thing. We spent about an hour and a half in the area as there is so much to see, hear and/or read.Hello, thank you for leaving us a review. We are so glad that you came to visit the Roman Baths and that you found it so interesting. It is lovely to hear that your little one enjoyed the visit in one of the baby carriers too. Thank you for visiting.Written 9 January 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 11 December 2022
- J KSan Antonio, Texas142 contributionsWorth Seeing OnceFor those already visiting Bath, this is a must see, but I can’t say I would make a special trip to see it if it was the only thing in the city. The tour is relatively interesting and the provided (free) headsets give some useful background and insight into the facility. There isn’t a massive amount to see here, and it is perhaps slightly overpriced, but it would certainly be a big oversight if missed. We went early in the morning before the crowds started arriving.Visited October 2022Written 13 December 2022
- kim g12 contributionsBathWe did this as a day trip out of London. It was one of three stops on our bus. I definitely could have spent all day there in town. We had the self guided tour. It was crowded and a line to get in. There are a lot of exhibits and some interactive ones. Shops to buy stuff in.Visited July 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 December 2022
- MikeHayes, United Kingdom488 contributionsFascinating placeRemarkable exhibit of the remnants of local Roman civilization with a good audio guide and a chance to view and even taste some of the warm spa water gurgling through the site. The online booking was fairly easy and the place was not overcrowded. Quite eye opening as to how the baths were used all those hundreds of years ago.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 December 2022
- Llama-Lover-1Herefordshire, United Kingdom51 contributionsWell presented & historically interesting. We thought the Roman Baths were superb and were pleasantly surprised to find that we stayed for 1.5 hrs as there was so much to see. The historical information was well presented and interesting. We visited in the late afternoon on a cold day. It was very atmospheric to see the steam rising and the torches lit. We would thoroughly recommend visiting this attraction.Hi Anna, thank you for leaving us a review. We are delighted that you had such a great visit and that you particularly enjoyed seeing the steam rising up from the torchlit Great Bath - it certainly is an amazing sight!Written 9 January 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 December 2022
- Chelsea PeterTorquay, United Kingdom70 contributionsPrepare for a few hours! We came here feeling it was a must do for a trip to Bath. We only expected to be here for a short amount of time but instead spent over 2 hours here! The exhibits are excellent and the information given is great. The price is very reasonable for the amount of content you see and can interact. Highly recommend!Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 December 2022
- TravelingAnnKVentura, California326 contributionsWonderfully Perserved BathsWe needed to reserve a time to visit The Roman Baths on line. We were in transit on a Bus so internet was spotty. I would recommend getting tickets in advance. The audio tour provided so much information and gave the experiance more depth.Visited October 2022Written 28 December 2022
- DrKayFrankfurt, Germany19 contributionsWow! Need to seeLoved the (interactive) Roman bath museum. Would recommend booking online. If the website doesn’t work, you’ll need to call them. The audio devices are for free. It can get quite warm in the museum so be prepared to take off your coat. Overall, the museum exhibits are very well done. Its a pleasure to visit.Visited December 2022Written 29 December 2022
- Clive ZEpsom, United Kingdom176 contributionsSuperb experienceExcellently preserved and well laid out making it a real personal experience. Audio assistance is good and non evasive to others. Plenty of space to stop and admire the relics. Can go around at your own pace - excellent in every way.Visited November 2022Written 29 December 2022
- Arthur MHamilton, Canada1,038 contributionsOne of Britain's Icons, top-notch visitor facilitiesWhile visiting Bath and its Bridgerton filming locations, I have decided to stop over in the Roman Baths as we have talked about this back in high school, and to finally see it in person was such an eye-opening experience. The water is still hot as shown by the steam around the pools. The other areas were dried out but replaced by informative, holographic simulations of how they used to look like. There was also a water tasting station complete with paper cones, and I regretted drinking the bath water. Yikes. They also have a gift shop as the tour within the site ends and the quality of the souvenirs here are also top-notch.Visited November 2022Written 2 January 2023

Last minute visit, thought it might be a waste of time but we throughly enjoyed it. You can go round at your own pace with your very easy to use audio guide. It was so informative and what a piece of history to see, beautiful. Wish we would have booked the thermal spa next door.

An insightful visit, lots of history and I found the video/holographics useful to see what things would have been like. It took us and hour and a half to complete but we did not use the audio guide

The Roman Baths exceeded expectations, I’ve been to a lot of Roman sites across the country but this feels so complete in comparison.
In addition to the ruins themselves there is a museum aspect, which houses many artefacts and information to enrich our understanding of the sites history, which I found fascinating.
The Audio guide is a must, there is so much to hear about Roman life and separate trails about the archeology of the site as well as one by Bill Bryson which was also great. You could easily spend a good few hours here.

A day trip to Bath isn't complete without seeing the Roman Baths. It has a really good audio tour so you can go round at your own pace. Entry was timed so although quite busy there was plenty of space to be able to see everything. We spent a good couple of hours in there. It was lovely to experience the warmth coming off the water on a very cold Nov day. The 'cinematic' visual displays brought it to life alongside the staff dressed in Roman clothing. Beautiful views of the Abbey and other architecture from the top.

The Roman Bath museum is worth every penny for anyone who loves learning about history. The entrance tickets included a very interactive audio tour and we learnt many interesting things from the life of those living there at that time. The children's version was quite entertaining too.
We spent about 3-4h exploring and listening to the exhibits.
Crowds start to form from 11am onwards. Can imagine the crowds in summertime...

I had not been for 25 years, even better now with excellent audio visual interpretation. Busy though plenty of space to see everything. Worth a long journey to see, a journey back in time.

The railway station was near to the town centre so that everything was within easy walking distance. The abbey was well worth a visit, but the well illustrated tour of the Roman baths proved a real high light. Excellent city planning has kept the entire centre elegantly built in softly muted Bath stone with a fantastic choice of shops and reasonably priced cafés. Anything negative? The weather, of course.

Non ho capito una cosa: la visita delle antiche terme, fanno parte della visita al museo, oppure il museo è una cosa, e le terme un'altra?

The baths are part of the tour round the museum. It’s all the same thing, you can not go in the water though…

Why don't they treat the water in the original bath area? Or minimally reconstruct some the house so that it can be useable? Why let the bad water just sit there? So people can jump in it?

It is meant to be a natural spring, it is for originality not for ‘tourists’ to use as a play area. Enjoy what you see, learn what is on offer, don’t try to make it another ‘theme park’ for those not bright enough to see it fit the historic marvel that it is.

How long do you suggest we spend touring the Roman Bath historic site?
Michael F
Sydney, Australia33 contributions
I would think 2 hours would be the minimum but probably best to allow 3 hours actually in the baths. The one thing I’m not sure about is how long it takes to get in at various times. I walked past at Saturday lunchtime and there was a queue out the door so returned early Sunday morning and it took only 15 minutes to get in. In summary I would probably allow 4 hours.
