I was nearly arrested here. The local bobby (a cast member) believed me to be mad and that I needed locking up :D. Fun to start with. The whole idea is that the museum is populated with people in the dress of the time and...More

This was an enjoyable walk into the past, with lots to see - my favourite was the candle making demonstration. Other interesting highlights included the chemist cum dentists and an old fashioned pub with wooden floors, snugs, saloons and real beer!

Try the fish and chips and don't miss the post office museum above the post office. Also enjoyed talking to all the volunteers who are really enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

I enjoyed talking to the volunteers/Staff dotted around the Victorian town, it certainly brings the displays to life - and they are a great source of information.

We had excellent fun at this delightful museum. Lots of really interesting social history with the added bonus of shopping! Really enjoyed the visit and will definitely be back.

A nice place to visit if in the area but we felt not as good as Beamish in the north. We bought some of their bread and after a long wait enjoyed the fish and chips.

An interesting visit. Almost like being on a film set. Wide variety of exhibits from shops showing the sort of items available then to industrial exhibits.
