We four friends, all over 65, walked the northern section of the walk starting from the Bedford Arms Hotel in Llanymynech and finishing four days later at Prestatyn. We delighted in walking across the amazing Pontcysyllte Aquaduct and watched narrow boats crossing as we walked alongside high above the valley. We also loved the long stretches of green lanes with... More

A lovely 1 3/4 mile walk into the picturesque town of Hay from the campsite near Clyro. The trail is easily marked down to the river and past an old Roman Fort area. Once on the River Wye the trail ascends onto the dyke itself. If there has been heavy rainfall the trail will be treacherous if proper walking boots... More

Have just completed most of the Southern section, walking from Kington and Hergest Ridge to Chepstow in four days and one morning. Having done the Ridgeway two years ago I prepared myself for Offa's Dyke with training walks carrying full pack etc but this one is much more arduous, it's not for the faint hearted (Or unfit). I started at... More

OK - late November was not a good month to start the walk and of course it rained and rained. We set off from the banks of the Severn and took three days to reach Pandy. Frankly the countryside was not very special - perhaps we are spoilt having walked in the Italian alps in September? One surprise was that... More

We recently stopped in Knighton for the weekend, and decided to do a 8 mile loop of Offas Dyke. Despite being a bit fresh first thing the first climb out of the town soon warmed us both up! Once at the top the views were simlpy stunning, see photos if you need any proof!! We walked for about three miles... More

I walked this trail over 13 days back in July 2013 using a tent for all but two of the days on the trail. The trail follows the ancient earth work for much of its length (not all of it), crosses over two mountain ranges and passes through a number of fascinating towns. There is history around almost every corner,... More

Just completed the southern half of Offa's Dyke Path. The walks are challenging with many elevation changes, but the views are spectacular. Poor signage just north of Chepstow led us off of the path and we only found our way with lots of help from local residents. Our self guided trip was booked through Northwest Walks who gave us great... More

Chepstow to Prestatyn, Sept. 24 to Oct. 8. I've had a walk in Britain on my to-do list for many years, so when a friend brought Offa;s Dyke Path to my attention, I was raring to go. I emailed 5 companies that organized the walk and picked Celtic Trails because I liked the way they responded to my questions and... More

Just completed the Knighton to Prestatyn section in 7 days. Excellent walking with many highlights including the Shropshire Hills, Montgomery Canal and Clwydian Mountains. Tough going at times, especially with a pack, so do not underestimate. Also, if booking accommodation yourself as I did, be prepared to spend quite a lot of time researching this and hunting it down. Even... More

We walked this between July 11, 2014 and July 23, 2014. It was a wonderful walk. It is not easy. There is a lot of elevation change. The scenery is different every day -- amazingly so. Only rarely was the way-marking insufficient. At those times, the guidebooks and some thought kept us on the right trail. We used Celtic-Trails to... More
