It's such a lovely gallery. Well... literally it's not only showing pictures or art works in an artistic way but also providing historical facts and functions, e.g. the steel-made rehabilitative materials. Besides, there are several roopotms for exhibitions with different topics and some lovely souvenirs are on displayed on the 2nd floor. When you need a break, there's a cafe... More

It was my first visit to Sheffield and this appeared to be premier museum/gallery in the city centre. I was somewhat disappointed therefore to find that the museum itself only has four galleries. Three galleries house permanent collections and the fourth has changing exhibitions. The first gallery, the Ruskin Gallery contains the collection of John Ruskin, who tried to improve... More

The Millennium Gallery has a decent collection of metalwork, as might be expected in Sheffield, with its rich history in this field. There are a number of other gallery rooms too, however a lot of the area seems to be taken up with shop space. I appreciate these places need to pay for themselves, (fantastically, this is a free gallery... More

Everytime I go in the Metalwork Gallery, there is less and less Sheffield pocket and table cutlery on display. I take friends from around here, and they always ask about it. It's a bit embarrassing. Where have the Stan Shaw knives gone, and the wonderful old exhibition knives?

Some fascinating silver and plate revealing Sheffield's skilled craftsmen through the ages. Ruskin gallery almost as interesting.

Millennium Gallery is joined to the Sheffield winter garden and was next door to our hotel (Mercure St. Paul's). Free to visit, not as big as I'd imagined. A good collection of local artefacts and the history of metalwork in Sheffield. Good to visit on a rainy day. Nice cafe downstairs.

Very nice although would have liked a bit more! There's a cafe on site but didn't get a chance to use it.

The gallery is full of things never seen before but largely with a steel / knife emphasis (Feb2017) The layout is brilliant - the displays are terrific - the shop is full of super things to buy. Some of it the usual museum staff that helps keep the place going but some other items that are really beautiful and associated... More

I have good memories of other museums in Sheffield but this was the first time I had been here. Ideally suited for a drop in as we were doing en route to a restaurant it was great to see the Ruskin collection so varied and a tribute to all the strands of interest of that amazing Victorian gentleman. Amazing to... More
