My last review of this place was deleted. I rated it as excellent and posted that my girlfriend was bitten by a squirrel. That excellent rating wasn't me being sarcastic. My girlfriend was bitten by a squirrel but I do really like Botanical Gardens. I've...More

Thoroughly enjoyed our little cycle around this park while doing a bit of Geocaching. Stopped off in the coffee shop for a nice hot chocolate and ice cream (even balance). Wish I had taken some monkey nuts for the very friendly squirrels. Would definitely return.

These gardens are an oasis in the city centre offering a peaceful place to relax in the sun or wander around the many paths looking at all the interesting fauna on display. There's a bear pit if you can find it, and the greenhouses are...More

The title of this review is slightly misleading. We weren't exactly looking the the Arctic Monkeys elephant, but found it by accident when we walked through. The gardens themselves are a lovely retreat from the city of Sheffield - it seems almost out of place,...More

The Botanical Gardens visit was a first timer for us. They were beautiful displays of exotic plants and flowers, blighted by garden sacks and boxes dumped outside the main greenhouse. Shame!! The exhibits themselves were spectacular and we saw plants, trees and shrubs we have...More

We visited with our young family and our children loved running around, enjoying the gardens, and peering into the bear pit. Bring your own drink on a Sunday as the cafe staff would rather you didn't bother them. Took five minutes until we were even...More

It has been nearly thirty years since I last came here and it is still one of the best days out in Sheffield. No fee to enter and the gardens are beautiful. It is so relaxing walking around in nature so close to the city...More

These gardens were a very pleasant way to spend a sunny afternoon and best of all it's all available for free! They are reasonably well kept with many mature trees and shrubs which are mostly labelled. There was also some gorgeous summer bedding, very brightly...More

Worth a visit, nice on a sunny day. Sometimes hosts events. Lots of green space for children to run about. Squirrels abound.

No, but parking is easy if you use the southern entrance on Thompson Road, just off Ecclesall Road. I think it costs us just 50p an hour. Usually spaces to be found although parking in that area is always tricky.

Yes, several of the 80-series buses, and lots of others, go that way. Ask for the 'Tesco' on Ecclesall Road. Get off the bus, cross over the road, and walk up the road to the left of 'Yankees'. You'll see the gates directly... More
