This is certainly worth a visit. As ruins go, it is very well laid out and lots of useful information is provided. Walking distance from town centre and beside the Forbury Gardens where you can have a picnic.

Reading abbey located between Forbury gardens /park and Reading gaol..very peaceful location considering how close it is to Reading centre.Recently all done up and plenty of infomation boards around the whole area.good to see and reflect on history .easy access for wheelchairs.

If you like history then this is a great place to explore for an hour or so. King Henry 1st is supposed to be buried somewhere amoungst the ruins, try looking for him! Wear sensible shoes and enjoy!
