- Legend_of_BoomanBracknell, United Kingdom1,458 contributionsNice shops but expect to pay full price and parking is dearBig sprawling shopping centre linked to the town centre. We went from approximately 1000 to 1700 and the parking was £13. This wouldn't be a problem if you got reasonable sales/discounts from the shops (we are probably spoilt as we normally go to outlet centres), but everything is full price pretty much. Despite that the place is throbbing with activity.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 March 2024
- DB8325 contributionsGood jobPersonally love it. Great shops for fashion and food. Tech and accessories too. The partial open plan is great. Bright and airy. Parking facility is good and reasonably priced.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 March 2024
- KavehBournemouth, United Kingdom554 contributionsA Shopper's Paradise in Historic OxfordAs a visitor to Oxford, my experience at WestGate shopping mall was outstanding. Located centrally, it blends modern amenities with historic charm. The mall features a diverse range of shops from high-end brands to popular high street stores and unique boutiques. Dining options are plentiful, including a rooftop restaurant with stunning views and a diverse food court catering to all dietary needs. WestGate also offers entertainment with a rooftop terrace, cinema, and bars. The mall's design is elegant, merging contemporary architecture with traditional elements, creating a bright, inviting atmosphere. The customer service was exemplary, with staff being friendly and helpful. Accessibility is excellent, with easy access for individuals with mobility issues and convenient public transport links. Overall, WestGate provides a comprehensive and enjoyable shopping, dining, and entertainment experience. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it’s a must-visit in Oxford.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 July 2024

Decided that the car park was the best to use, despite the apparent extortionate tariff, since the Park and Rides had very poor reviews. Got there early and navigated streets quite easily. Quick access to shopping centre and city-centre sights.Did the usual tourist thing with the Radcliffe Camera, Sheldonian Theatre and Bridge of Sighs. Centre itself has a lot of "posh" shops, so you have to go outside for Poundland! If you have a weak bladder take care. The only toilets seem to be on the top floor at the far end of the centre i.e. as far away as possible from the car park. Judging by the vast throng of scurrying people heading there, everyone seems to have the same experience! Having said that, the car park was only £5.00 for around 2 hours. Not bad.

Today i entered your park at 13h11; left at 17h38,meaning aprox 4h20min of parking. Your system is faulty and you're using it to rip off your customers. Whilst I was counting on paying £7 for the amount of hours I stayed, payed £10...basically my 4h20+Your after 5pm hourly rate. If had left at 5h01 again would've paid the same tener. Amazing though is that you don't specify the 5pm+ addition anywhere making the average customer think this will only take effect if you enter the car park after 5. Better even is that on the exit the machines don't even give back your ticket so you can't even prove your entering time. Only ref parking here again after 5 or surely leaving while before!!!! Ridiculous!

We have visited Westgate Oxford numerous times but this is the first time I thought of reviewing the centre. The main attraction ti the shopping centre is the vast number of stores and the ease of parking as it's a hassle finding parking in Oxford. Better yet they have around 50 EV parking spots as well which make it so convenient. However, I'd say the parking charges are over the top as it's more expensive than parking at shopping centres in Lonodn. The spacious layout makes navigation easy although it's unavoidable to bump into people at peak hours. The top floor is full of various restaurants catering various cuisines. The cinema complex provides entertainment options for all ages. The center's cleanliness and well-maintained facilities add to the overall positive impression. Despite this, Westgate remains a bustling hub for retail therapy and leisure activities, making it a must-visit destination in Oxford.

Westgate Oxford is one of the few shopping areas in the city with cover for those rainy days. Everything is pleasant and there is a reasonable selection of shops which include Hotel Chocolat, Uniqlo, Primark, Next, Sainsburys, Lush, Smiggle,
However, beware of the misleading parking charges information provided in the website and paying machine terminals. It gives the impression of a progressive fee structure but in actual fact the minimum charge will be £7. In my case, as the stay was less than 2 hours (Wednesday, before 5pm), I was expecting the fee to be £4. However, the fee was £7, which is probably the minimum at Westgate Oxford. Displaying misleading information is a very poor attitude from the Westgate Oxford toward their visitors.

Been to Westgate a few times now since the big upgrade from the Old Westgate Shopping Centre. Even though there are a lot more shops and in general a grander place to shop I have been unimpressed with the place. It is too open and gets really cold so not a very pleasant shopping experience. When walking through the place all staff are dressed in complete winter gear, hats, scarves and gloves which I do not blame them. Will only go Westgate if I absolutely have to but I would rather travel from Oxford to Banbury to use Primark or Bicester for Superdry and I would rather travel to somewhere like Reading to an indoors shopping centre.
Westgate has a big underground car park which is actually cheaper than some of the Car Parks around Oxford so is worth using this whether you are shopping in Westgate or popping into Oxford itself.
I will go in the summer to see if the shopping experience is better and will update my review once I have.

This shopping centre is well located, many shops, cafes, safe car park. It’s endowed with green plants and feels very natural. My special spot was ‘Mowgli’ selling Indian street food. We enjoyed the food and this is at the top floor. It’s better to book the restaurants online as we had a bad experience walking in.
The manager told us there was no availability but we went out and checked online and found space in 30 minutes and booked. Better to have an informed manager at the entrance the lady clearly didn’t even bother to check for us, she simply told us there is nothing so we thought something was wrong we went and checked online as an F&B manager at The Macdonald Bear recommended it to us.
That said the mall has Very clean wash rooms, wheel chair accessible. Try and pass by while in Oxford. Shops include among many: John Lewis, Tedbaker, Molton Brown, etc... Indian restaurants Mowgli, Cinnamon kitchen to hint but a few... go and check it out.

Nice visit marred by rip off parking charges. I accept parking is expensive in Oxford due to its idiotic council, however the Westgate go one further by shoddily charging an extra evening rate no matter how little the stay encroaches on the period.
Leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I don't come into Oxford that often but when I do I enjoy the new westgate shopping mall. It offers a variety of eating places which will suit all tastes along with all the big name shops under one roof.
Take the park and ride into Oxford which drops you just outside the shopping mall.

I love the layout of Westgate. It's easy to walk around, even with social distancing measures in place, and feels very bright and spacious while keeping you out of the rain.
The range of stores is fantastic. There's something for everyone here, with great quality brands like Reiss, Hobbs, Phase Eight and Ted Baker. There's even a Flannels on the ground floor, as well as all your standard high-street stores like H&M, Next, Mango and Urban Outfitters. All standing in the shadow of the well stocked John Lewis to provide you with great fashion and homeware pieces.
Makeup lovers will enjoy the dedicated stores of Bobbi Brown, Too Faced and Mac, while chocolate lovers will find themselves spoilt for choice with Hotel Chocolat, Godiva and Coco Chemistry.
There's a wide selection of good restaurants and cafes dotted around the centre, and overtaking the roof terrace, which also provides a beautiful rooftop view of the city of spires. The perfect way to end a romantic meal after a day of retail therapy!
Centrally located, giving you ample opportunity to explore further, venturing out into the streets of Oxford, Westgate is THE place to come for a day out!

Excellent shopping. The roof top terrace restaurants were all card only with no cash payments. The Itsu sushi eateries were also card only. It seems Oxford city centre wishes to become a cashless zone with all payments to be made by card. We did not find one ATM during our stay that was working. Even the ATM at Sainsbury's was out of order. We prefer cash payments when travelling as it's easier to monitor spending, what we're carrying is ok to spend without having to re-check balances at ATMs, especially those not working.

Do you have to pay the Oxford congestion charge to go to Westgate shopping centre
Written 19 July 2024
Does anyone know if the thorn hill bus goes to Westgate shopping centre..
Written 21 March 2019
Just wondering if we can take dogs into the shopping centre thanks x
Written 26 August 2018
You can bring dogs through the centre now. There are signs on the walls at the entrances, but it’s individuals shops’ discretion to allow dogs inside or not, so just ask the shop’s staff. There are restaurants with outside seating areas too, so you can have your dogs there.
