We came to Oxford for our anniversary and this is one of the tourist attractions right in the heart of Oxford. Looking at the price that I paid, looks expensive, but the guide and the information provided is amazing. You get to learn about the castle and the gory details of it's life. Highly recommended, but look for vouchers if... More

This was our first stop and we bought combined castle and hop on hop off bus tickets rather than just entrance fee. The guides were dressed up and full of knowledge/real life stories! Very entertaining and held my attention (which can wander!). Bigger than you think from outside. There are some steep spiral stairs up to a tower that some... More

It was a last minute decision to visit the castle. Our grand daughter was staying for half term and late in the week told us she had a to do a half term project on Crime and Punishment. We booked tickets for the first tour the next day (10.00am). It was a quiet day and we had our guide, aka... More

Although I live nearby we have never been to this attraction until today, but what a great surprise it turned out to be. The guided tour by a member of staff was excellent, she really made it come alive. There was so much to see and listen too, for a good 1-2 hours. The walk up the tower and visiting... More

My daughter was visiting with a friend from Australia, so we thought that this was a great way to introduce him to some of the history from this area. It is a fairly compact tour of the old part of the tower and goal area and also requires a walk up about 100 steps to the top of the tower,... More

A very interesting talk from the guide. Amazing amount of detail passed on. You need to be reasonably fit for this as you will go to the top of the tower (101 steps up a spiral staircase). Well worth a visit.

We weren't too sure this place was worth the visit as it cost us £9.25 each (concession rate) however, we enjoyed the experience. Although not a lot of the castle left and it involved a 110 step climb to the top of the castle tower (good views of the city) the prison cells were very interesting and the guides took... More
