Visited Cherwell Boathouse recently to initiate five non-punting friends to the thrills of balancing on a plank with a scaffolding pole - followed by a rowdy picnic in South Parks. We also had relative first-time success keeping our springer spaniel (in his life jacket) on board. We punt 4 or 5 times a year here (nearly always downstream to Parson's... More

My husband and I did a punt just for an hour. It was 16 pounds. I really enjoyed it. We went down through the park and saw ducks and geese. It wasn't to hard to get the hang of punting.

We hired two punts (not cheap at £18 per hour). Boats were fine though not brilliantly maintained which was a pity. But we have seldom encountered such down right unpleasant staff. The gentlemen at the counter could not have been more unpleasant if he tried (seriously!). His attitude was unacceptable - and completely unprovoked and unnecessary!

Friendly staff, nice food in the restaurant and easy to walk to from the centre of town. The staff were also super helpful at suggesting a place to go for dinner that night. It also looked like they had a room downstairs to rent for events - which was decorated with chinese lanterns and fairy lights, super pretty!

Tried this for the first time on a busy Sunday last year as a family of four and it was a complete disaster...not sure how it didn't end in divorce! A year later my husband was eager to try again. This time we chose a quite time of day and my husband asked for some basic instruction and tips which... More

Four of us rented a punt and used it along the river. It is really good fun, however two of our party have punted regularly and so we were in safe hands. I would imagine if you had never punted before it would be quite difficult. Everyone on the river was friendly and were helpful to visitors who were struggling... More

We went as a large group for a birthday. The punting itself was great. Short punt down the river to a pub. What let it down was the staff. They were miserable. They didn't move from their seats unless it was to shout at people. They weren't friendly or helpful. Huge let down.

A nice establishment with a pub and a garage which stores the poles, cushions and paddles. The attendant charged us by rounding down to the nearest quarter of an hour. Cost is 16£ per hour. Punting is quite hard at first. Wonderful river bends and views into the university park. Hungry ducks around.

So me and a few friends decided to give punting a go. There were 6 of us in total. At £18 it isn't a bad price. We did have a 30 minute or so wait which was fine as we went to get a drink and a snack. Although was a bit disappointed as when getting an ice-cream from the... More

Get your punt, cushions, paddle and pole then either turn right and glide by the Oxford uni parks or turn left and navigate the short distance to the Victoria Arms pub for a quick refresher then punt back - brilliant way to spend an evening,
