Think about those books, the ones that you'll always go back to, those moments in life where you think 'that's a bit like that chapter' or 'you're just like that character', those are the stories we love.

We don't just want to leave those books on the shelf though, we take them down, hand them around, share them out and bring them to life.

All over Oxford we find unusual spaces - these stories aren't set in theatres so we don't put them there. Castles, antique mirror tents, college gardens, bookshops and factories... we'll go wherever the stories take us, and so far we've taken over 500,000 people with us.

From the thousands of children who've told classic stories in new ways through our education programme, to our professional actors and directors, you're always most likely to find us lost in a good book.

18 years, 54 shows, half a million audience members aged 5-95...we are Oxford's own Creation Theatre Company.

As our children are a bit older, and the panto has lost it's appeal, we decided to try the Creation Theatre on recommendation of a friend. Needless to say, we all had a great time. Three generations of our family went to see Snow White at the North Wall in Oxford and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I cannot recommend this... More

Another unique and quirky show from Creation. Set in the round, gave a real buzz. Fantastic Christmas fun which both teenagers and Granny enjoyed.

Fantastic -the lines were delivered flawlessly, with the perfect emotion and pitch sound like regular speach - making the play easy to follow and understand, but true to it's written form. It is rare that shakespeare's lines are performed in a way that feels relatable but the performance here really drew out the jokes, cheeky references and heartfelt emotion, making... More

Shakespeare in the park is always slightly dependent on the weather but even with a few glouring clouds this was a wonderful evening. Slightly confusing for the kids due to the multiple roles for the very small cast, "was that her dad or his friend?" but full of vigour and pathos. The groups of noisey, running students seeking a Balbasaur... More

Lush. How else could one describe the combination of stunning 'theatre', excellent casting, sets and acting. A feast for the senses. This take on Hamlet will more than satisfy 'Shakespeare purists' as well as captivating those who feel they should see a Shakespeare play but aren't sure if it's for them. GO! Yes, it's off the wall 'Mad Max meets... More

Don't miss out on this amazing performance - as usual, Creation has put its own twist on a classic piece. The cast is excellent and the setting beautiful. I can't do justice to the interpretation of the piece, it is powerful, imaginative, modern, and yet retains all the elements you expect from Hamlet. Only just over a week left of... More

From the minute we were handed a breifcase containing wedding button-hole flowers and our first "clue" in the middle of Fridewide Square by a strange looking man who suddenly appeared from a door way (then disappeared again), to listening to a street busker (Puck) set the scene, to being accused of being fairy spy in the Worcester Street Car Park,... The most captivating and intriguing performance we have ever seen. We were spellbound as we walked through areas of Oxford we don't know, wondering what awaited us for each new challenge - each of them more surprising than the last. I am sorry we didn't see this earlier so that we could have entreated all our friends to go too.

Wow, what a performance! For those who think Shakespeare is boring head along to the Creation Theatre's version of 'Hamlet', it will take your breath away. We have an interpretation of this great tragedy that combines post-punk imagery with Mad Max type styling set in the glorious surroundings of University Parks. The acting was outstanding and I can highly recommend... More
