This is one of Oxford's historic taverns that is worth seeing for its architecture and atmosphere. It dates as an ale house fro the fourteenth century though the front bar dates from the seventeenth century. It is hidden away from the main streets down a...More

From the surly girls who took our order at the bar to the hideous food (they ensured that each of our party had at least one item of food that was cold) this has got to be one of the most awful experiences of pub...More

Just written a review about nice place and food etc but a visit to the gents was less than impressive. Message to management. Spend a few of the pounds made and a couple of good hours and deep clean the toilets guys as they are...More

Always call into the turf when in Oxford. A quirky little pub down a little alleyway. If you're into inspector Morse or Endeavour then this place is a must.

great experience with food and drinks. Not suitable for rainy day. Normally closes by 11pm. Service is great and ideal venue to meet visitors to Oxford. Got wet on a rainy night. Need some help to locate the place as cannot be seen.

Including Morse and Lewis. Very nice staff, will allow you to have someone take your photo while you are behind the bar! Nicely hidden away place to go for one of those great Oxfordshire Bitters

After a thilling match of real tennis we found ourselves famished and in need of sustenance. The tales of those political giants such as Clinton or Hawke will not be delved into her but the history of the place attracted me none the less. The...More
