Busy due to Degree Day celebrations but ducked in for some soup on a cold day and was served quickly. Managed a table and a couple of pints and enjoyed seeing the grads in their formal attire and colorful robes. Nice local place and not a chain pub. Would love to return for the Devon crab. Cheers!

This is an old fashioned pub in every way. Someways its good, with their extensive beer and ales range. But cleanliness of toilets doesn't seem a priority and food lacks in taste. The service was slow and the staff seem uninterested. The only reason to visit has got to be its central location and beer range.

Managed to get in and get a table on a Saturday night - Matriculation Day. Not changed much since I was here 40 years ago. Crammed with loud students, tourists and locals. Separate desk to order food which sped things up. Wide range of real ales - local and foreign. Fairly quick service with the food. Excellent quality and value.... More

As part of a trip to Oxford we visited this pub for a drink and bite to eat. The food came very quickly. I had ordered a goats cheese tart with mash and veg. It was very disappointing. A square piece of puff pastry with a slice of goats cheese on top, the mark was extremely dry and my carrots,... More

Terrible Sunday lunch. The pork was dry and tasteless, the 'roast' potato had spent more time in the deep frier than the oven, and the veg had been boiled to within an inch of its very existence (and then allowed to go cold.) The Vegetarian option was not a lot better. Perhaps a 'Sunday shame' as food is generally better... More

Good atmosphere but waited 40 minutes for poor quality, luke warm food. Drink here but there are better places too eat!

We popped in on Sunday evening and ordered food. Steak and Ale pie which came with mash potato and vegetables. Cheese Burger and chips. The pie was hot but the puff pastry lid was not golden, it was not even slightly golden, it was a very pale unappertizing cream. The mash potato was very lumpy and cold. We told the... More

This is the second time I've visited the pub this weekend during the Oxford Open Doors event. The pub was very handy for the nearby colleges I had been visiting. It was busy but the service was swift and friendly. I was hungry but wasn't impressed by the food on neighbouring people's plates, so I decided not to try anything,... More

This pub is one of the many traditional pubs in Oxford. We went there with friends for drinks. I had local apple cider. It was delicious. A little crowded. Average price range. I can't say anything about the food but inside the pub there was a strong odor of food and fries which wasn't very pleasant.

Great location, tasty and quick food, atmosphere a little bland. Place has huge potential, not fully realised. Fish and Chips were fine, but presentation could have been a lot better.
