A lovely evening beginning, for 8 pounds, with a book talk and discussion with wine and sandwiches. The book talk was excellent and added a lot to the enjoyment of the evening. A literature professor gave use insight into the book, I Capture the Castle, and a chance for discussion and we met at the interval to continue talking. The... More

I thoroughly enjoyed La Strada in March 2017. A splendid theatrical night out and a fitting tribute to the great road movie of the 1950s. Everybody very friendly and a nice vibe all round.

I had not been to this theatre for 40 years. Of course it had changed, I think that it must have recently been refurbished. The seats were very comfortable and well space so that you could see clearly between the two seats in front of you. My only criticism of the theatre was that the foyer was rather small and... More

1st time to the playhouse, most impressed, there are two bars one downstairs and the other one upstairs. Loved the very comfortable seats in the theatre. I would say there is a good view from where ever you sat in the stalls. I disliked the air condition blowing out cold air, hopefully they have fixed it now

Wow! What a performance. Plays like Pink Mist, stripped back to the bone, really do allow serious focus on the actors. With just the few minimal props, appropriate sound and lighting this show grips you from start to finish. Pink Mist demonstrates the heart wrenching effects of war and the futility of conflict. Director John Retallack has done a superb... More

Most of the audience were ladies of an age, and we now know what to aim for. Think the author has meet some of my friends and family as... More

A riveting and harrowing play by Owen Sheers currently on tour in the UK. It’s a Bristol Old Vic production described by the director, John Retallack, as lyrical rapportage. The combination of punchy blank verse, Lecoq movement to express character and events, and perfectly timed uncomplicated sound effects lay bare the story of 3 young Bristol men who join up... More

Four of us went to see the Tennessee Williams play performed by the University of Oxford Student Company. The production was fantastic and now that the Theatre has been refurbished, the improved seating and sound quality made for a perfect evening.

Myself and my partner recently went to see the comedian Stewart Lee at the playhouse and it was great. The seats were super comfortable and a great view from any angle, staff were helpful and friendly at the theatre and it was overall a great night out. I'd recommend to see something here on a visit to Oxford.
