We arrived at Carfax Tower just before 10 am, the door was shut so we waited, the information said it opens at 10am. At 8 minutes past 10 the door opened and a young man stepped outside to put the board up to say it was open and so I stepped forward, he began to close the door and I... More

There are not many places to get a good view over Oxford so for £2.50 this is not bad. Don't expect to get the sort of panoramic view you might get in other cities as this tower is only 99 steps high. But enjoy the view of Oxford particularly the one to the south.

When you refer to the centre of Oxford you always think about the Carfax tower. But actually I wouldn't pay for going up to the top. The view is not that cool. S. Mary the virgin is better.

Quite a climb and need to stoop if you are tall. Narrow spiral staircase. Nice to be above the roof line but not a lot of room on top.

If you are on a once in a lifetime visit to Oxford then this is the climb to make for the view of dreaming spires. But if, like us pensioners who visit Oxford several times, then choose a day with few crowds and you will be better able to pass on the otherwise narrow and crowded spiral staircase and also... you can look around the church without going up the tower, light a candle for your loved ones and sit and reflect

Good views over the city spires and reasonable at £2.50. Not for claustrophobic because the stairs are quite a narrow spiral.

If you are able to navigate the 99 steep and narrow steps to the roof top then on a clear day you are rewarded with great views over the roof tops of Oxford, and of course, be prepared for the 99 steps back down again.
