One of Oxford's landmark, this museum is really interesting. During your visit you will enjoy very much every department and some extra exhibitions. Free tours are available at selected times. Admission is free of charge, but donations are welcome.

We were in Oxford for a day trip and decided to come here for a few hours. The museum is nice and spacious, laid out nicely. Lockers for your coats and bags and has a cafe downstairs. Lots of interesting things to see, really recommend...More

Well worth a visit. Extensive galleries filled with antiquities and art. We only visited the Dutch, impressionist & preraphelite galleries as it was after 6 pm. Luckily we were there when there was entertainment in the atrium as it was the evening of Christmas lights...More

The Ashmolean is one of the top museums you could wish to visit and is certainly a must on any visit to oxford. They also provide a "finds" identification day which is usually the first Wednesday of each month. Extremely interesting and the staff are...More

I only had a very short time to have a quick look round but what I did see was very interesting if I get a chance to go to Oxford again I will certainly pay another visit

Expensive and often busy but crammed with fabulous history. Staff a bit finicky and won't trust a grown adult to carry a cup of coffee (with a lid) around with them, apparently. But a good museum.

I was amazed by the size and the management of Ashmolean Museum. Had a great experience and would definately visit again (it's a large museum, so I couldn't cover everything). I would like it to be a bit more organized in terms of paths (for...More

Never seen so many exhibits and amounts of artefacts in the archaeology sections, lots of information and able to get up close to many exhibits. Very interesting. Not a lover of paintings but I found their collections extensive. Would recommend this throughly.

I have visited before, but this time i brought my slightly reluctant husband. Staff at the entrance were welcoming and really helpful. I decided we would just do maybe one or two galleries and that was a good plan. He really enjoyed his visit, and...More

I highly recommend visiting the Ashmolean you can spend many hours here as there is loads to see. Why not pop in to the lovely rooftop restaurant of the museum whilst there - amazing views and very good menu and friendly staff. Totally recommended!

Not absolutely sure of opening times - but the usual sort of times I think? Open all year - but one floor was closed when we were there. I'm sure that there is a website.

Just noticed your question; have you travelled to Oxford yet? If not, the Randolph Hotel opposite the museum would be the obvious place to stay and central to the rest of the city and university areas (which overlap). The... More
