Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The porter Nigel here (I travelled solo on a weekend) was particularly welcoming. Very jovial host. The family in front of me were a bit difficult but I noticed he was very warm toward them whilst upholding the professionalism of the college. As an academic this is also important to me. I'm aware this is a popular filming location for film crews. And noticed there are many photos of celebrities at the door. Except it seems to me they should be proud to be photographed with Nigel...rather than he with them. This was an excellent day out at New College...and apart from the potter sights I can recommend the gardens for tranquility!

We had already visited Magdalen College and had been disappointed as we paid the full amount and the Chapel and dining room were closed. While walking back to our car we stumbled across New College. We were greeted by Nigel on the gate he was fabulous, informative, friendly and really did make our day. We decided to go and visit New College and it was great. The Chapel is amazing, the dining room was impressive and the city walls all made this a great visit. If you only visit one college in Oxford make it this one, especially if Nigel is there to tell you all about it. Thank you Nigel for making it a special visit.

This really is a stunning place to visit and you really get your moneys worth with lots of history to see and a very serine atmosphere.
We very much enjoyed the enforcement of behaviour on the door, one door man was very friendly to us but would not let a party enter who were making lots of noise and running about. This is something we don't see a lot today, the enforcement of respect in such heritage sites and it was very uplifting to know our visit would be quiet and respectful especially in areas of religious value.

A M A Z I N G experience like really. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter and the Malfoy tree spot was so beautiful, even prettier than in the movies! But there is so much more to see than just that iconic spot! The architecture is wonderful and I walked through the garden wonderstruck. If you’re a fan of HP, just run to it like for real, bc it closes at 5pm.

I downloaded from their website the map with things to see, in my language. You can see the dining room (but beware that it closes from about 12 to 14:30, it depends), the gardens, the chapel, the cloister. For Harry Potter lovers: 1) In the courtyard of the cloister, Harry makes his way through a crowd of his companions while ridiculing him with badges Potter sucks, after he has been selected to take part in the Three Wizards Tournament. 2) In "The Goblet of Fire" the cloisters are the corridors to class at Hogwarts. Then there is the huge oak tree in front of which: 1) Evil Eye Moody turns Malfoy into a ferret after he tries to cast a forbidden curse on Harry, attacking behind his back; 2) Harry informs Cedric of the dragons that will fight in the first round of the Wizard Tournament; 3) the quarrel between Draco Malfoy and Ron was filmed here, in the film “Harry Potter, The Half-Blood Prince”, when the latter casts a spell with a broken wand and finds himself spitting snails.
It costs £8.

We visited New College and what a wonderful visit it was. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The cloisters are beautiful and Harry Potter was filmed there. The chapel is a little different, but very cute. The dining hall is gorgeous, so make sure you go when it is not in use (lunch time), and the gardens are good for a nice stroll. We loved our visit. Go have a look.

We happened to end up at the New College. We walked under the sight bridge and so we came to a gate that gave access to the New College
I also wanted to visit this one because there are also recordings of Harry Potter movies. You do pay admission and are not allowed to go everywhere. The chapel has a beautiful impressive statue wall. In the monastery corridors there is exhibition of special constructions. It wasn't crowded

We were on a self guided tour of Harry Potter locations in Oxford so New College was a must to see the try from Goblet of Fire! We bought tickets on the door and we had plenty of time to explore and get photos. A must see for any Harry Potter fans.

New College is past several other famous places to visit while wandering the streets of Oxford, and yet another architectural splendour, well worth a viewing of the outside, if you have time you can take a wander inside weirdly they charge for this but not the free museums (should be the other way round).

Forget Christ Church! New College is half the price, there's much more to see and and much less people visiting! I really enjoyed the cloisters and the magnificent oak tree, the dining hall was also lovely and there's actually a very nice garden at the end to see! I highly recommend a visit to New College!
