I decided just the night before we left Northumberland to Yorkshire, to visit Hadrian Wall at Dusk of the day of our departure to Yorkshire. So I booked a cab and requested the cab to take me to Cawfields Quarry, which is the best spot where you can start walking the Hadrian wall either towards the east coast or the... More

Some sections of the wall are in excellent condition, whereas other parts are almost non-existent. The high ground gives a real sense of the scale of its original construction. On a sunny day, wind at your back it's a beautiful place to explore.

This was a bucket list trip for me. My brother-in-law, 70, and I, 75, completed the 84-mile walk in six days. We used Hadrian's Wall Inc. to arrange nightly accommodations and transfer of baggage from one stop to the next. We hiked west from Wallsend in bustling Newcastle on Tyne to very remote and quiet Bowness-on-Solway. We enjoyed days three... More

The end and beginning of this trip are a bit tedious if you're not an avid hiker... I found the scenery a bit repetitive and close to roads/villages at times. But the middle part was incredible!! Great hike, once in a lifetime type walk!

Hadrian's Wall is one of the unmissable walks in England. The views are fantastic, the weather often bright and clear even in March (and sunny / even hot in summer), and the walking is firm underfoot and we'll trodden. We just walked 6 miles, out and back, from Housesteads where we parked the car and bought coffee, past a couple... More

For many years I have been interested in Hadrians Wall and wanted to see it for myself so recently we went up to Northumberland and visited the wall starting from Houseteads Fort which is a magnificent example of the Roman way of building and making sure their borders with the 'Barbarian ' Picts and Scots were secured. Although it is... More

We were not in this area just to walk Hadrian's Wall, so much more to see and discover in this area but seeing it was on our doorstep from our base in Brampton we decided a walk along the wall was a must to take in this amazing frontier, having two cars we were able to leave one at Greenhead... I did the walk in May 2017, over seven days. I booked accommodation beforehand. I started on a Monday. I tried for 12 miles a day but accommodation meant 15 miles some days and 8 or 9 on other days. Also, I wanted to do it at my pace and enjoy the history. I carried all my stuff and didn’t... More

I have always wanted to walk Hadrians Wall since reading a book based round it years ago. We wanted to walk it last year but couldn't get the accommodation we wanted. We wanted to be be based in one place and not move each night. We ended up booking our B and B a year ahead to get the Hexham... More

Planned to walk the Hadrians Wall over 5 days. Day 1 and 2 a waste of time, unless you like walking through Newcastle and next to roads. 40 miles before you see any wall? Day 3 and 4 good walk through countryside with views. Day 5 a nice walk, but no wall? If you are thinking of walking this distance,... More
