This was one of the attractions we did during a visit to York. Walk at your own pace and see the great scenery. The walk took us around 3 hours as we made a few pit stops for drinks.

The three sections of the wall cover centre of the city. Some bits of the wall was closed because of the weather, but was still enjoyable walking around it. Lots of history, worth to walk on wall. I will come back, I'm sure :)

I lived in York for 10 years, and re-visited this wonderful ancient, medieval walled (5 km in circumference) city in March 2017. It gets better every time. Within the large walled city centre, you feel like you are on a movie set for a new...More

We walked the walls during a wet and windy afternoon but despite this the walk was still very enjoyable and gave a different view of the city which let us see lots. A real must do if you visit York.

Had a leisurely morning walk the length of the castle walls. Helped us see different things and see the usual attractions from a different angle. The café at Walmgate Bar well worth a visit and the staff very helpful and informative.

Some of the best preserved Medieval walls around, encircling a significant part of York. A walk along the parapet affords a unique view of some of York's more interesting back gardens.

They can be accessed most times of the day, during daylight hours. However, the gates through which the walls pass are locked and so preventing access. The walls are not continuous and in parts are open on one side so not... More

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.
