Bit dissapointed as flower beds are poor and water needs a good clean out, it seems to be all about the kids as playground is well kept, but what about the older visitor? And what has happened to the bandstand?????

If you want to escape the city centre visiting crowds or the snarled up traffic for an hour, then walk along the river for about half a mile and drop into Rowntree Park. It has an excellent play area for the children, water features to admire and plenty of pathways just to wander along and regain for sanity.

I came to Rowntree last year when there was a medieval festival. To begin with it didn't look like much - just a bouncy castle and some displays, but we soon realised that they had spread the events around the entire park. I thought this was very clever because you got to see more of the park as you walked... More

Lots here for all the family, play areas, lake, cafe, trees, geese, sports fields, nature areas. It's a park. Liable to flooding.

With a café, pond, playground and plenty of places to sit, Rowntree Park is a great place to spend a sunny day on a budget and seems a very popular place for locals.

Rowntree park is our closest park - so its great to take the kids for half an hour when they're getting 'cabin fever'. Its also a good place for a picnic and has some fun climbing frames and a zip wire for the little ones to have a bit of an adventure. Avoid when the river is flooded though!

Massive space just on the outskirts of the city centre with a great play area for the kids, and nice paths to walk. You can feed the ducks, have a wander, grab an icecream, even play a bit of tennis or boules.

My husband and myself visited Rowntree Park on a Sunday morning. It is a lovely place to walk around, the gardens are well tended, there is a nice lake and there are ornamental statues to look at. There is also a park area and tennis courts. The park is peaceful even though there were lots of people around. It is... More

I remember growing up in York and visiting this place for the climbing frames/slides etc play area. I loved it! I didn't really take much notice then of what else was around (like the vast park area) .. I re-visited recently for my childhood memory and I am so happy to see the kids area still there! One day when... More
