Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is basically a nice park but is not being maintained by York City Council as it should be, much like their neglect of the River Foss. As others have stated the paths and grass are covered in goose droppings. The lake was suffering from the drought but even so the council could easily keep it topped up as its close to the River Ouse. Needless to say the water was dirty with algae. Rubbish at the north end could easily have been removed given the low water level. The cafe is very nice and the incorporation of a library is a great feature however the cakes and scones etc are very expensive in our opinion. £2.95 for a cheese scone? Not likely! I wonder how many are thrown away as unsold. The coffee I thought was too strong compared to Nerro et al.

We so enjoyed finding this perfect spot of tranquility in side the city. It was a haven of peace, and beauty. The concept ofvthe little cafe too, with its Library influence was particularly quaint, and sonething I would personally make good use of if I lived here.

Absolutely dreadful! We could not believe or navigate the huge volume of goose poo that had quite clearly been neglected and allowed to accumulate for some time. The signs stating “what goes in must come out” added insult to injury. This park is a positive health hazard. This is such a great shame given its history. Unkempt grass and seriously neglected areas and bowls greens with gazillions of youths wizzing by on skateboards made this an experience never to be repeated. Shame on the organisation responsible for its management, Toilets truly awful. We shall not return.

A great few hours spent here, kids loved the skate park best . It was busy but all there were respectful to each other. Park and walks were great.only down side the goose poo all over. You can't really have a relaxing picnic and toilets are not the best. The ice cream van at the end in the car park was extortionate.

Took the boys for a muck around and managed to hire the tennis courts in the park for £8 for the hour. You could book with a QR code which was quick, efficient and we didn’t know was available before we went.

Played cricket, had a walk and then walked onto Bishy Road for an ice cream. Had a lovely few hours.

Used to be a lovely park, it seems to have been let go a bit. Large amounts of dog mess all over the place. Luckily this park is really close to the river. So went for a walk along there instead.

The park has a small car park, which is pay and display.

Went on Sunday with friends with children, it was embarrassing the amount of goose poo on the paths and grass.
I had to watch where the children walked which was an impossible task.
Also scared one would fall in the pond as all the goose poo on the paths is swept into the pond.
Fill the pond in and hopefully the geese will not venture there any more

A beautiful well kept Victorian park with lots to do and see. Children’s areas, flower beds, arboretums, statues, and ponds.
Lots of local wildlife.
Excellent for a picnic.
Cafe and toilets, all just a stone throw from York city centre and the racecourse.
Well worth a visit.

Kindlewoods team in action on a dry sunny afternoon laying the hedge around the pond. Didn't see any newts, great crested or otherwise. Great, job, Katie, Rob, Sue and David.

Had a stroll around on news years day just before we left York to head back home. Done the trick and tired the dog out enough for him to sleep all the way home. Nice park with lake, playground etc.
