Had a brilliant time at The Dungeons. Laughing all the way. Even my partner who doesn't like to be on show was persuaded up to front. Don't think you can hide if you don't like being looked at, he was not given any choice, but the group is so small, he wasn't upset by it. It can be a little... More

Not sure how this attraction could be both so funny and yet so scary at the same time. It was brilliant and I would highly recommend it to York visitors.

We love surprising people, though we agree; how do you convince someone that we can be scary AND funny? I mean, except bringing them in of course. (Psst, that was a hint to bring your friends to us!) More

I first visited the dungeons back when i was thriteen on a school trip. Fifteen years later my excitment of returning turned to dissapointment, The gore has gone, No longer are moving statues showing you the best of medieval torture methods. I was hoping to go back and see my personal favourite (the starving rat) Also I pre booked for... More

For stag and hen parties we recommend getting in touch with The York Dungeon prior to your visit to discuss your needs. Over the past 30 years we have gone through several major refurbishments and are now an interactive experience of 10 live shows showcasing the dark history of York through actors, sets and special effects. For guests we believe... More

Extremely entertaining. Actors were brilliant and staff were enthusiastic! My only negative is the charge to buy photos taken upon entry was very pricey (£12 each) which was a shame.

The actors here are brilliant, really funny and talented folk. It's smaller than it's London counterpart, but still well worth a visit!

What we lack in size we make up for in substance! Where else will you find how the Vikings treated their Saxon slaves, or what became of Guy Fawkes, or even what we do to any traitors from the South (you know who you are!)? More

Brilliant for teens, scary but also funny, the kids really enjoyed it, we parked at the park and ride where there was leaflets with loads of tokens for reduced entry in main attractions!!

For the best deal we recommend pre-booking online for an exclusive discount. We also recommend bringing two pairs of underwear...just in case. More

Decided to visit York with the Missus and teenage son and went to the York Dungeon, having never been before. Had to queue outside as we hadn't prebooked. Cost £44.00 for all of us, bit steep but hey ho. The attraction comprises of a number of medieval style rooms with an actor in each one in costume from each era.... More

My friends and I were looking for fun things to do in York online and we noticed The Dungeons were repeatedly recommended. After reading many positive reviews we decided to go. On arrival the gentleman that served us kindly offered us discount as we were in a group which mean we paid £14.95 instead of £16.95 (I do feel this... More

Our actors work extremely hard to scare/laugh the pants off of our guests (not literally, of course). Good tip on pre-booking online: it's the best way of getting an exclusive discount on entry. More
