York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour with our guide Chris. It was informative, moving and had lots of humour as well. Plenty of audience participation too. Would definitely recommend and at nearly 2 hours long, we felt it was real value for money.

I have been on other tours in York both historical and ghost tours but this was definitely one of the best. Our guide, Chris, was a good laugh and told the stories well. He has a real passion for history and the city of York...More

Fab tour with a fab guide (Damian)! Some really interesting and sometimes heartbreaking stories interspersed with tricks and laughter. It was almost freezing but didn't spoil it or chill Damian's enthusiasm. He got us all involved and skipping across roads kept the blood moving! Would...More

Took the trail this evening in a group of 4. The total size of the tour was only 9 which made the tour a little more intimate and meant we had a lot of interaction with the guide. The guide was very knowledgeable and obviously...More

We went on the terror tour on a very wet and cold January evening, but still enjoyed being guided around this fascinating city. Our guide was interesting, informative and very entertaining and the time spent on the tour flew by. The weather wasn't idea, however...More

Really interesting tour of the city by the delightful charming and talented tour guide Gemma. She captured our attentions with the dark side of the York's colourful and gruesome history! Excellent value for money and most definitely recommend!

I was hesitant to go because I don't like things jumping out at me. I was assured there would be none of that so off we went. I am glad we did. This tour was gruesome and gory and factual and so much fun. Stories...More

Just turn up outside the Golden Fleece Pub. They won’t take any money off you until the end of the walk. I think it’s a 7 start, but the sign is there all day giving the details. Enjoy.
