We were lucky to spend a beautiful, sunny winters day in the Museum Gardens after visiting the Yorkshire Museum. Grab a bench and enjoy the sunshine, people watch and enjoy the antics of the squirrels and wild birds. There are lots of lovely corners to explore and a lovely walk.

York being an old city has lots of narrow streets and high stone buildings, which can be a bit claustrophobic on a dark winter's day. How refreshing to come into a green space so close to the centre, even in winter when there is not much else growing.

A must on any sunny day, just fine a section of grass and lay back. Also recently made the most of walking round and exploring some of the more historical sections and once again amazing by the history of the city.

My partner and I recently visited the Museum Gardens on a trip to York over Christmas 2016. It is a lovely place with lots to see - the Yorkshire Museum, a Roman tower, the ruins of St Mary's Abbey, squirrels, doves, lovely paths and walkways. It was gorgeous and relaxing during a December visit and I would love to return... More

The gardens at the York Museum gardens are just beautiful.Full of historic buildings and lovely gardens I spent hours just soaking up the lovely surrounds whilst being amazed at the old buildings still standing.Too many photos of this amazing place.

These were really nice even in the winter - the Abbey of St Mary's ruins are nearby and just a nice spot near the river for a walk. Peaceful and worthwhile

Museum gardens are lovely in summer when you can have a picnic and a sit in the sun (if there is any) but it's also great in the winter as long as you wrap up warm. Very picturesque

Like most of York the Museum Gardens are quite beautiful and a walk through them is an essential part of the visit to York. Within the area of the gardens there is some very ancient buildings and the gardens atre not too bad either

Thoroughly enjoyed meandering through this part of York with its ruins, garden paths, and the river.
