Have visited this museum several times over the years and we love the old fashioned feel of it - so many varied objects crammed somewhat randomly into the space, making it ideal just to nose around and focus on random exhibits, whether they be fossils, stuffed animals, or historical artefacts from the local area or around the world. The staff... More

The Museum, set within the beautiful Pannett Park, has the most amazing collection of Jurassic period fossils - the real things - all collected within a ten mile radius of Whitby. It is of world class importance and should be a definite date if you are staying in Whitby.

Interesting museum with lots of good paintings. Only small but worth a visit. The grounds even in the cold weather was lovely to look at. Also a very good child playground in the grounds.

Had a brilliant morning at the museum today. Two children 3&8 had a great time exploring the fossils animals ships old toys. Well worth a visit. Point to note no parking in site but west cliff car park is little less than 5 min walk.

Thank you for your kind review, we're pleased you & your children enjoyed your visit. As you say the nearest public car parks are situated on the West Cliff, however we do have 4 disabled parking spaces to the rear of the building. More

We have visited in the past but this museum warrants many visits. Many new exhibits have been added and displays changed. At the present there is an interesting exhibition telling the history of shoes. This is accompanied by three videos, a welcome sit down and very watchable. The fascinating display of objects in light bulbs always holds my attention and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and consider it well worth the £5 entrance fee. There is lots to see with a great variety of artefacts and something to interest everyone.

Although there are some interesting items on display such as the fossil collection and the stuffed seabirds, I was honestly expecting more for the entrance fee. Given that Whitby has such a long and fascinating history, it would have been great to see items displayed along a clear chronological timeline, with a lot more emphasis on the importance of Whitby's... Thank you for your review. I wonder if you looked into the newer wing of the museum housing tools from the boatbuilding trade & also a chronological storyboard history of Whitby in our Normanby room. I will pass on your comments to our committee. More

As museums go it was good, if you like museums it's right up your street but personally I've been to better. We were the only two people in there. Out of season visit. The gardens surrounding the museum are stunning and great views of the abbey in the distance
