Unfortunately it was raining and the mist was down but nevertheless enjoyed travelling along this line. Managed to see the slight curve of Ribblehead Viaduct from the right-hand side of the train and waved to the many walkers on the path near to the track...More

A great day out on a wonderfully scenic railway. With the back drop of the beautiful Dales and chocolate box stations what more could a train enthusiast want. Well worth a visit.

Journey from Settle to Carlisle was just amazing. Parking at station is only £2 for the whole day, very reasonable and you are straight on to the platform from the parking. Views from settle all the way to Kirkby Stephen is very pretty and amazing...More

Thank you for your feedback. We enjoy some spectacular scenery in all weather. You can get a glimpse of Ribblehead Viaduct whilst travelling on the train but, yes, the best view of the magnificent structure is from the ground.

If you have a day return ticket, you can hop off and back on to another train (but you must continue your journey in the same direction) Please check the timetable though as there is a long wait betwen some services

Yes dogs are allowed and there is no charge. You can find out more by searching the term "dogs" on the settle-carlisle website

Go to the uk steam website for information on all steam trains and their operators. These are all charter trains and you have to book with the relevant operator. The normal main line service operates daily.
