The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell proudly tells the story of the city and its people. The museum is now fully accessible and refurbished after a £1.5m redevelopment project. Come pay us a visit! The ancient building is packed full of collections and displays, with lots to enjoy by all the family. Highlights include the last surviving Jacquard loom in the city, fully restored to full working order, a recreated chemist shop, countless fantastic shoes, as well as engineering marvels, such as the world's first wire netting machine. Catch a film in our mini cinema, relax in the 1950s living room or listen to local people sharing their memories of the city. Find us in the heart of the charming Norwich Lanes area. We would love to welcome you to this unique museum.

What a wonderful museum! Every aspect of Norwich is represented here- from its very early beginnings to its wool industry, from WWII to the present. The terrific artifacts are put together nicely with readable descriptions. The exhibits are wonderfully done and will interest kids up...More

Great little museum tucked away done one of the back streets of Norwich. Very interesting to learn more about what Norwich was involved in especially the trading. Lots to read and see. If your interested in museums then this is a little gem.

Were lucky to visit this great museum on Heritage Day, which meant there was no entrance charge. I grew up in Norwich and used to visit this museum when I was young. It has been sensitively refurbished and is a fascinating place to visit. I...More

This restored archive of artefacts is well worth a visit. It is interactive and very child-friendly. There is a beautiful restored Jacquard loom on the first floor (lift available) and it is a working loom. We were fortunate enough to have a full demonstration and...More

We thought this museum was excellent. Tucked away down a quaint alley in Norwich, it was a wonderful find. It was a little disappointing that the Bridewell/prison element was largely skimmed over, but the chemist's shop is a 'must see' part of the museum. Do...More
