The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

    Wheelchair user
1 wheelchair user and 2 carers. We had a fab time at this experience, the staff were great at advising us where to stand and actually had space for wheelchairs in all the rooms. The characters were so good with telling us the story and getting us all involved. Would definitely recommend.
Woooowwwweeeee! What a Shrektacular review!!!! Shrek will be so thrilled to hear that you all had such an amazing time! Well... as thrilled as an Ogre could possibly be! He'll pass on that Shrektacular feedback to all the staff. We can't wait to welcome you all back to Far Far Away soon!!! Oh! Donkey says hey! 💚💚💚

    A bit dull and repetitive
Went with a 7 year old girl and 13 year old boy. Girl had a great time but the rest of us in the party thought it very boring. Too much waiting around at the start for a photo that you are “prompted” to buy. This caused a huge bottle neck in a very small space. Felt very outdated. There are better attractions (including the London dungeon next door) to spend your money on. Was the only think I wish I hadn’t wasted my money on during our whole weekend in London.
3 stars! Gingy will take those and trade them for some new gum drop buttons! We'd love to know how to make that 5 stars! 💚💚💚 We would love to hear more about your visit... Please e-mail us at SALguestexperience@merlinentertainments.biz

    Where are the witches?
This experience used to be fun for all ages. However, I visited early in 2024, and this attraction is now in the children. I do not understand, why they have removed the witches. Please can somebody explain why? It is worth doing once if you haven’t been. Also there use to be more adult jokes in it. Ok not great.

Good fun for the Kids, is just next to other major attractions in London and just by Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, i do strongly suggest you pre-book your slots in advance as it it much cheaper than booking on the spot and as well bare in mind that regardless if you pre-book your slot or not you will have to queue up!

Great experience, shorter than others but works for younger kids. On our visit the staff/actors tended to pick the same kids in each section to interact with which was a little disappointing but the overall experience is worth the price.

Great fun. The scenery and walkthrough areas were great. The actors were all fabulous and out favourite was Thelonious who was hilarious , facial expression were amazing.
The experience lasted about an hour and 20 minutes and was good fun throughout. Meeting shrek at the end was awesome.

The experience was overall a truly enjoyable one. It was like venturing into a Disney Theme Park or attraction, just with a Shrek/DreamWorks theme. It was magical and mesmerizing. The only downside was that you weren`t allowed to record or take pictures at the middle of the tour. Most of the crew were friendly and approchable. Otherwise, the tour was a good one :)

We went as a group of 4 adults, 1 a wheelchair user, and one child, ranging from 2.5 to 81 years old, we all had an enjoyable time.

Only slight issue is that the wheelchair spot is at the back on the side of the magic bus and you don’t get a great view of the screen, would be better if the spot was closer to the front.

The wheelchair was always put at the lead when going from room to room and the wheelchair spots were nice and clear.

Some of the doorways were a little tight and if had been self propelling wouldn’t have had finger room but as long as someone can push it’s not a problem.

I would recommend someone not in a wheelchair leads around the mirror maze, feet knocked into a couple mirrors but luckily didn’t break any.

Definitely recommend the adventure for all ages.

Some nice photo opportunities after, fair warning though it’s quite dark so will need to adjust your pictures

I hated it. We expected more but it wasn’t that great. I preferred the dungeons I liked it to a point but not too great to be honest..

What a marvelous surprise and totally unexpected. We had been to Madame Tussaud’s the day before and it was ok but this was even better. Yeah a lot is for kids but there are adult jokes and harmless innuendos too. We just added it to our ticket and it was worth every penny. The story flowed, the live actors were great and we had a really good time!

I enjoyed parts of the experience (quite interactive and the actors are very good) however did find it to be quite long (queuing at the start takes far too long!)
My 4 year old was terrified the entire time and wanted to leave almost immediately- so probably not best to take children under 5/6.
Overall, not bad but also not amazing either. If you’re a big Shrek fan/ enjoy interactive experiences you may enjoy- if you aren’t a huge fan I’d give it a miss.

This was utterly bizarre (and some bits inappropriate for young kids) but my two little boys (4 and 5) loved it. We went for free as had Merlin passes thankfully. Queuing was awful - took half an hour from joining the queue to begin properly (there's lots of queuing inside too). But once it started it was very well done. I couldn't really follow the 'story' of it, but the special effects were excellent. It was my sons' favourite thing they did on their trip to London. Took an hour and a half in total (half an hour of queuing plus 1 hour of the thing itself). Not allowed to take photos. I did think some bits were inappropriate though - there were jokes about Victoria's Secret for instance, which felt out of place and uncomfortable for a young children's attraction.

The 7 year old loved it. And wants to go again. Not sure if children over 10 would enjoy it. I also think it depends on your group. We had a good group of people all joining in.
Didn’t really know what to expect from the experience and personally thought it was too short for the money it costs. Thankfully Merlin pass holders so it was free. Would not have been happy if I’d paid. that being said the actors were great. Annoyingly half way round two kids were screaming which ruined some of it. Would have been handy to have had staff member on hand to ask if they wanted to leave as exits weren’t clearly marked. The mirror labyrinth was hilarious all the adults just blankly looking at each other like what’s going on!! And the rats, yes I was an adult who loudly squealed. Being met by shrek at the end was great!! Loved the figures at the end too just wish they’d been some troll figures.
As much as we really enjoyed it another criticism is the photos, only one pose at the beginning with the green screen, then the looking up and then one with shrek which was an awful photo really wanted to buy the photo package but with only the one photo to choose from it was sadly a no as the picture was awful. Wish they’d been two photos with shrek to have chosen from one may have been nice lol. Sadly no pop badges, yes plastic isn’t great for the environment but still would have been nice as a reminder.
