Staff really friendly, good selection of beers and a lovely feel about the place; especially the unusual and quirky yet befitting decor. The views over the river are stunning.

But it’s got lots of conflicting stories. The hangman’s noose give credence to the drowning of pirates but did Captain Cook really set sail from the dock outside? Very busy pub on a gloomy winter Saturday afternoon. The pub was delightful suspended over the River...More

We had our friends retirement do at the pub and we weren’t disappointed. It has a great atmosphere with stone floors and original features everywhere. The selection of beers and spirits is very good. Staff were friendly and very efficient as the pub was initially...More

We’re touring Wapping riverside pubs and the Prospect of Whitby [The Devil’s Tavern] was next on the list. Just as the waterside theme is understated in the Town of Ramsgate it’s full tide in the Prospect, all it needed was a few oo-aaaahrs from the...More

One of the oldest pubs on the Thames, while a little off he beaten track, it’s well worth the effort to dine/enjoy a drink with the river just yards from you. You also get to soak up some of the history this place exudes. While...More

On recommendation of a good friend, we went in search of this pub. What a stunning pub, right on the Thames, with stunning views and you couldn’t avoid being swept back in time surrounded by all the history. This is a must see on any...More

This was our second visit and the pub was even better second time around than the first. When we arrived we were told the historic upstairs room with outside balcony was closed. There were 7 of us and there were no tables available downstairs, so...More

This pub is full of character and well worth a visit. The upstairs dining room in particular harks back to an earlier era and has great views of the Thames. The selection of ales is good and the food is more than decent.

Enjoy the history of the oldest riverside pub. Had lunch here with my partner. The service was good but felt there was something lacking with the food. The steak & kidney pudding and steak and red wine pie were full with meat but the pastry...More
