The Savoy Theatre is currently home to Gypsy which stars Imelda Staunton, Lara Pulver and Peter Davison. Don't miss Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, as it transfers to the West End following its sell-out, rapturously acclaimed five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre. Imelda Staunton delivers a 'knock-out performance' (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's 'dazzling revival' (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her 'stunning' (The Independent) role as Louise. They'll be joined by Peter Davison as Herb, in this gloriously entertaining musical fable that features 'showstopping' (Mail on Sunday) choreography from Stephen Mear. Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the tale of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act. But times are changing, audiences are expecting more, and the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and 'scintillating' (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

To see this show was the sole purpose of my recent trip to London. I had read great reviews about it and I really wanted to see it. I went on a Friday night with my sister (who is not big into west end shows like me). Amber Riley was not in the show that night and I must admit... More

We were given tickets to this show as a thank you present from my daughter. Row B seats 7 and 8. In my opinion, the best seats in the house. They are at the front right in the middle but just far enough back to keep your head level and you can see the diamonds on the dresses. To say... More

Had no idea of the story but came away from the show totally happy. The theatre itself is a fantastic space and the performers were as good as you get. London theatre productions are always very good but this production is a step above many other shows. Well worth visiting

Having a close friendswho's only ambition in live is to become a Dreamgirl made the decision to catch this show during its run at the Savoy Theatre very easy. The theatre feels modern and well structured with a standard proscenium arch stage its decoy is elaberate and made to feel more traditional than imagine it to be. This modern touch... More

After hearing and reading all the great reviews on this show I thought it's a must night out in London. So we started with a dirty martini in the Savoy American bar which sadly was just full of old men .... wonderful service by immaculately dressed staff but you expect that from the savoy and the £36 for two drinks!!... I have waited for this show to reach London and what a fabulous night it was. I would think that it helps to be familiar with the story, thus making it easy to follow. The stage set and costumes were great and reflected the genre of the show. The vibrant acting and singing were fantastic - Amanda Riley deservingly blew... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to see Dreamgirls at The Savoy theatre. One of my favourite theatres. Amber Riley stole the show and the whole audience gave a standing ovation.

Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre was fantastic. Stand in for Amber Riley- I think her name is Karen Mav- was fantastic. All the cast were great. The theatre is small but our seats in the stalls (rows W and V) gave us a good view. Lots of steps to the seats so beware anyone who would have difficulties with these.... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
