Intimate theatre with a pokey bar

Saw last night of The Libertine here and have to say it was a great venue with lovely decor and an intimate feel. But the bar for the Royal Circle was tiny and lacked seating (I... read more

Saw last night of The Libertine here and have to say it was a great venue with lovely decor and an intimate feel. But the bar for the Royal Circle was tiny and lacked seating (I can see why) and the journey to the Gents toilet was a bit of a trek. Would happily attend shows here again but will... More

Very tight seating, not sufficient legroom. However the play is excellent with many of the cast excelling, the view is clear even from the back. Absolutely loved it

The Haymarket theatre is a really old and classic theatre. Very nice to see a play like the Libertine here. The only thing is that you don't have a lot of space. So after the play you are happy you can get out.

This is a period play about the second Earl of Rochester, the title telling all exactly who/what the earl was. The actors worked well together; the title character was well played, but was not a particularly admirable person, so enjoyment is taken from the ensemble. This was the third play we saw over a period of 5 days, the other... More

Saw Dominic Cooper on Saturday November 19 for the matinee performance & he was outstanding in the role of Earl of Rochester as it was made for him. Some great lines Alcock (servant)- '' in my short employment with his lordship I have already observed that when it comes to drinking it is never too early & never too late''

The theatre itself is of course, beautiful. As are all of the theatres in London! Each is different in its own unique way. I went to see The Libertine with friends on a weekday night. I'd read some reviews before and almost wished I hadn't, as I had already formed a slightly negative opinion before the curtains opened! Set in... More

Love this theatre because it is so small and you are close to the stage with a great view wherever you sit. Bought this ticket a while ago as was interested to see Dominic Copper on stage in something a bit more heavyweight than his tv and film work, so was a bit disappointed when the opening reviews weren't favourable.... This is for Adults only and beware it is very graphic (no nudity) with very, very coarse language. You need to know this - I see some reviewers obviously didn't know enough of John Wilmot who was notorious - think of Byron ++. I loved it - my wife studied him at university so I knew it was raunchy and... More

This theatre is beautiful. The play I went to was The Libertine and while it wasn't amazing in itself, the experience definitely was. I highly recommend it.

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
