Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

Taken to see this show as a birthday treat and a treat it turned out to be. Knew nothing about it and hadn't seen the film. It's none stop singing and dancing. The cast are very good and 'Lola' deserves a special mention, what a voice. There is humour as well as a few mild swear words. Would definitely love... More

The beginning might be a little slow but once Lola appears, keep an eye on her. The cast is very talented, the music and dance routines are great and curiously enough I find it's based on true facts.. The scene with the conveyor belts is very original but Lola stole my heart. Entertaining to adults but even my teenage son... More

Loved the music, the songs and the dancing. It's a wonderful evenings entertainment. It's an unusual story but I found it fascinating that is loosely based on a true story.

The show was absolutely amazing. We did a theatre and dinner combo and got a great deal and great view from the Grand Circle. Seats are however rather tight for those long legged or of the fuller nature like myself.

My daughters and I see lots of productions...some in NYC on/off Broadway, Vegas and others as they are on tour, visiting our city. This production is THE BEST we've seen so far!! The message is awesome, the actors were awesome and engaging. We found ourselves laughing and even crying a couple of times. We loved the entire cast, but we... More

I love, love, love this show. Matt Henry is outstandingly fabulous as Lola, boy can he sing. The whole cast were amazing particularly Lauren, Dom and George and I absolutely adored the Angels, how those beautiful men can dance in those heels is gravity defying. They harnessed my inner drag queen I just wanted to jump on stage and strut... More

What an amazing show this was. Me and my girlfriend were planning to see a west end show on our trip to London like we normally do - we love them. We hadn't booked tickets in advance this time round so went to one of those kiosks. In fact, we went to several kiosks and asked what was recommended. Every... More
